All over the place up here also. Saw stacks last week over 10" in diameter. As they say, it's much better to go ahead and let your stupid fly than to keep everyone guessing.

Working from the couch has its advantages. Sometimes you see cool things on the deck.

Yeah, we had a Cooper's hawk buzzing in our back yard a week or so ago and one of the cats got pissed that it was ruining "his" bird hunting and chased it off. Wish I had been quick with the video camera ...

That is cool.

When I lived in Tennessee, I had a hummingbird that was always getting caught in the garage after chasing the red release on the garage door. Eventually, the little fellow got used to me helping him out of the garage and all I had to do was walk in and hold my hand out and he'd fly over and sit on my finger while I carried him out ... Amazing little creatures ...

Thanks for that mental image @Rice

Hey at least she fessed up :D

Love the pic with clip in and on fire. Nothing like safety standards at precinct hq

Very cool pics of the hawk and hummingbird. I had some sort of finch in the shop a couple years back, finally located the nest tucked up in the little storage boxes in the shop. He got in and out on his own. Nest is still there.

It seems not all Land Cruiser owners are law abiding citizens.

Cops: Woman concealed loaded gun in vagina
Ha! 100-Series problems!

I'm happy they got busted, but I don't agree with the school zone charge. It just happens to be where they got pulled over. There was no mention of them dealing there.

My father got stopped for a moving violation in front of an elementary school once. He was a licensed gun dealer in Virginia and owned an actual storefront but this was a Monday morning, in his neighborhood, on his way to work after a weekend at a gun show. Driving a van full of guns. He told the officer who he was, where he going, what he had in the van and why it was there all without being asked (because he's too damn honest). Backup was called in and he sat in the patrol car. He was threatened with being hauled off for having guns in a school zone and was treated like crap. No priors, no warrants and never had a ticket in his life. The 4 or 5 cars, including K9, that responded searched the van. They found 30+ cased, collector grade WWI rifles and some M1 Carbines all with the actions zip tied open and no ammunition. He continued to sit there until a police Sergeant showed up. Turns out he was one of my dad's customers and chewed the crap out of all the responding units. Then he told my dad that he'd have been screwed if there was any ammo in the van, regardless of caliber and including any loaded in his CCW gun because of city, location and politics. He had chosen not to carry that day because of the places he had to visit on the way to work. And, he never got a ticket that day, either.

Wow that is crap!! In KS, State Law allows you to hold/transport firearms outside a school in/around the parking lot, but you can not enter, nor carry. So you have state law and federal law (1000 feet) in conflict - - its all crazy.

Your Dad's situation is way out of control. NC is a lot different than I am used to - it is good to read stories like your Dad's - - lets us all be "warned" of the risks.

I did look up and find the following exception in NC for concealed carry permit holders, currently, but in your Dad's situation, it probably doesn't matter as what the police do and how the law reads are two different things sometimes:

"A person who has a valid concealed handgun permit, or is exempt from obtaining a permit, who has a handgun in a closed compartment or container within the person's locked vehicle or the handgun is in a locked container securely affixed to the person's vehicle. This individual may unlock the vehicle to enter or exit the vehicle provided the firearm remains in the closed compartment at all times and the vehicle is locked immediately following the entrance or exit of the vehicle . . ."

Yep ... fortunately NC laws for Conceal holders got better last year.

G.S. 14-269.2 Schools, Public or Private, All Levels Including Universities.

(1) The person has a handgun in a closed compartment or container within the person's locked vehicle or in a locked container securely affixed to the person's vehicle and only unlocks the vehicle to enter or exit the vehicle while the firearm remains in the closed compartment at all times and immediately locks the vehicle following the entrance or exit.

(2) The person has a handgun concealed on the person and the person remains in the locked vehicle and only unlocks the vehicle to allow the entrance or exit of another person.

(3) The person is within a locked vehicle and removes the handgun from 1 concealment only for the amount of time reasonably necessary to do either of the following:

a. Move the handgun from concealment on the person to a closed compartment or container within the

vehicle.

b. Move the handgun from within a closed compartment or container within the vehicle to concealment

on the person.

"Officers immediately stopped and a female officer searched the suspect, finding a loaded Smith and Wesson .22-caliber pistol with a round chambered in her vagina."

This sentence needs the punctuation changed. I don't think they mean exactly what is stated here. Unless...maybe hers is particularly special :hmm:

I've been sitting here reflecting on the fact that this group regularly covers engineering and physics. There is often social commentary. There are good discussions on cartography, geology, soil composition. Now we have the study of law and human anatomy.
I'm seriously thinking of pulling my children out of Ogden Elementary and just having them read through all the threads in the ONSC Clubhouse.

Hmmmm. ONSCS ... Olde North State Charter School.

More than once my wife and I have contemplated leaving current positions to open our own school.
