Having had some recent experience with that stuff, I can say that some of their (IKEA's) stuff is relatively easy to assemble, then there's the time consuming items - like the wardrobe that I put together on Tuesday. That was an almost 8 hour project. Might have been shorter with another set of hands and if I did not glue all of the joints ....
Ive got 4 large bookcases with extension caps, glass doors, and extra shelves to build, along with some other craft type storage bin systems for our spare bedroom.
I am NOT lookin forward to that, even with my Scandinavian heritage, I'm going to learn lots of new Swedish cusswords.

I had my kids do my Daughter's IKEA dresser - it was like a puzzle to them - - So nice having 17/13 year olds!
I only really go there for the meatballs. From the cafeteria. I can do without the zillion bozos letting their kids treat the store like a playground. I wonder how often they have to clean a "surprise" from the display toilets?
I do like their meatballs. I bought chairs for my office there, nice visitor chairs. We also bought the "expensive" industrial chairs from an office furniture manufacturer for the high frequency and use furniture. 3 years later the Ikea stuff looks better and is the preferred sitting area. They carry crap, and they carry great stuff. The hard part is which is which.

Anyone here have first hand experience with LS400's. @jfz80 I seem to remember one in the back ground of many of your driveway pics.
Looking to get a large comfortable car for Andrea's and my commute to work. Her jetta isn't cutting it at all on the reliable side and with the traffic that gets squeezed in from all over the puget sound there are some very heavy traffic areas so an auto will be needed for her while she is going from location to location for her new job.
I've found a few low mile examples out here and know that the LS400 has been called the most reliable car toyota ever made a few times.
i've found one i'm looking at this weekend for 4k its a 97 with 106k on the motor.... interior is flawless and the exterior is a 9/10 also with the only problem being a dent in the trunk that should be able to be popped out by a paintless dent repair guy.

Great cars. Worst thing Alex complained about was pure grandpa vanilla driving experience but no issues from it and will still return above 25 mpg at 75 on the highway. Silly smooth and quiet.
I think that's the last year made and low miles to boot. He motor been swapped at some point? YOu said motor has 106. Just curious.

sorry bad wording on my part. 106k on the car, current owner bought it off an elderly lady, it was her an her husbands retirement car and rarely drove it. She had her license taken away after he passed away so she sold it with only 80k on it and the current owner put the rest of the miles on it.
I agree they are pretty vanilla looking and the interior while in great condition pales in comparison to how interiors look on other vehicles.
EDIT just double checked and its 116k on the car.

Sounds like you've found a gem.....they are great cars, wanted one really bad a few years ago but ended up with an Avalon as it was cheaper......we have had an LX470 and an ES300 in the past. The Avalon has been a great travel car! I think @NCFJ has an Avalon if i recall correctly from another thread. I'd buy it, you probably will be able to sell it for the same price or even a bit more after driving it a few years!
The only downside is that they can be a little pricey to repair being a Lexus....parts are more. If you can find an honest local non-dealer mechanic you are golden.
That's all i have to say about that.....
I had 96 for a few years that I bought at Hendrick Lexus. Next to the Land Cruiser, I would say it's the most rock solid used car you can buy. My father in law has a 00 Coach edition with 85k that I hope to get someday. How much $? Good ones have appreciated.
My prior father in law had one - he beat the piss out of it and it never gave him a problem. I had the opportunity to buy it for less than book value, but after watching him rag on it, and I was young and it's an old man car so I went with something else.
Nowadays, I'd consider it. I really don't have a smooth highway cruiser in my lineup. But if I was looking for one, it'd be a 71 Riviera anyway

@lt1fire The LS400 is one damned fine car. My experience came from riding several time with a S VP at work in his. He bought one of the first available first year of production models and the last time I rode with him (in 2009) he was bitching about how he was waiting for it to have a major malfunction so he could get another one. I asked him how many miles were on the clock and he said a figure over 500k and I was amazed. It felt like it needed new shocks but I was entirely comfortable riding at 85+ MPH in that car on roads in the foothills in extreme eastern OH. One of those would make a damned fine choice.
Thanks everyone for the info on the car. I haven't heard back from the seller yet so hopefully he will get back to me at some point.
Also want to know exactly how much Andrea will be driving daily in the car. I'll just be getting dropped off and picked up by her but she will need to drive between the 9 campus locations they have in King County to do her job so if she is killing the miles we may have to finance a newer car like a 07 camry hybrid or something like that to help with the excess miles.
