What I learned today.

My guess is the policy is specific to Advance Auto but other stores may be similar.

I was in need of a new Optima Red Top for the 40.
$230 but I had a 25% coupon.
Store only had one in stock so I got it. $187 out the door with coupon.
BUT, the date of manufacture on the batt is JUNE 2014 (i.e. already 18 months old)
I take the batt to a second store in hopes of a swap for something newer.
Second store is in shock .... says any batt over a year old must be sold as "used"
She refunds me the full amount and I buy it again as used.

$80.


So, might be worth asking if store has any older stock if wanting to save a buck.
