We now have a 1970 FJ40 with Warn hubs that appear as old as the 40 itself. It looks like it says M47D or M4/D on them. I have attached two photos. The first is the hub, the second is the bearing inside the housing. Does anyone know where I can get this bearing? Mine are frozen solid. The part number is Kaydon Kn-263210. Thanks.

Does the bearing come out easily? I've got a set of those hubs on my workbench, but I've never tried to get those bearings out. Assuming mine aren't seized up, I'll send you the hubs and/or bearings for cheap.

Update

Thanks for the tips. I tried Kaydon, but they don't make that bearing anymore. I tried Warn, but they couldn't recommend a part to replace it. I was hoping somebody else ran into this problem. I tried to find a bearing on line, but was unsuccessful. I'll start making phone calls next.

Anybody have any idea how old these are?

e Rock, when you get a chance can you check yours? Maybe a different bearing part number in yours or I'll buy them from you (or the whole hub set). Bearings look like a pretty tight fit, but I haven't really tried to pop them out yet.

Thanks

That needle bearing shouldnt be to hard to get

Take the hub down to you local Bearing house
They will measure OD width
also take the inner race.. it is prolly pressed on the shaft that goes through that bearing. Its possible the shaft itself is the inner race
but not likely . It would have to harder than a Teenager in a strip bar.
possible but not probable.
Change both races.. inner and outter

Well, here goes.

My roller bearings are also completely seized (at least the one I pulled apart and I have no reason to think the other one is any better). Yours look a LOT better than mine. And feeling how the inner sleeve spins with a seized bearing, I'm pretty sure they've been like that for at least the 11 years that I've owned it. I never knew there was a bearing in there - probably because it didn't feel like there was one.

Mine are M47C, which apparently actually means something. My bearings are smaller than yours. There isn't enough flat edge exposed to even print any kind of name or number. The rollers appear smaller in diameter as well, which probably makes sense.

The good news is that there is no real stress on that bearing at all. It's just there as a support for the birf stub shaft when freewheeling. When the hub is locked in, that sleeve/bearing don't spin at all in relation to one another.

So if a bearing store can't help you, the good news is that it'll probably work just fine for a long time.

I'm looking for one of these for a 1966 Ford 4x4. This thread was helpful and I cross-referenced to SKF B2610A (or Timken 2610) and going to compare today at Napa.
