images of what I'm looking for.

So, here are the pictures of where we are looking for the vaccuum cable attachment thingy.....
Hopefully the pictures explain it. This is below the actual "dash" -- so just inches below the actual dash.

To the right of the parking brake and the high-low lever. just to the left of the fresh air vent.

The locking part (piece I am missing, on post 432 you can see it) just sandwitches the cable into place.

Unfortunately I see that being an impossible task to complete. I therefore suggest you finish up what you can, call the project unfinished, and deliver said vehicle to me. I am more than happy to make sure that the angst you are feeling about the cable goes away.

I hope my '78 turns out 1/2 as nice as yours will.

Thanks for stepping up to assist me in my troubles.... and thanks for the complement too.

Devil is in the details.

Sorry I didn't have those brackets on mine, so sorry I won't have the piece that you need.

Pam

Thanks for looking Pam! Really appreciate it.

Cheers.

I thought I might post up that my wife has helped me with the gas tank restoration. so, thanks go out to her. I am doing the POR 15 liner thingy. Let's just say to do this by the instructions is a little bit of a pain.

1st, you have a cleanish tank. Then put the marine clean with HOT water in the tank slosh it around. Then every two hours go out and slosh it and rotate to every side of the tank. Because the tank has a depressed bottom that made 4 extra angled sequences too. So that by itself was 12 2 hour rotations. Then the next step is REPEAT. There goes another day.

Then, you put in the metal prep and do 30 minute movements. There is another 6 hours. Then rinse with HOT water.

So that is where I am at now. Again, thanks to the wife for helping rotate through all these cycles.

Right now, the tank is upside down, in my basement. I took two CPU cooler fans and have one blowing air in the gauge hole, and the other air out the filler neck. I will let it dry out for 3 days, then finally get to painting. instructions act like it should be less than an hour.

So to summarize, 126 hours of time to get ready to paint, and 1 hour of painting.

I sure hope this works good.

( I will admit that because there was only about 1 hour of work in this, the rest waiting, it was a good tax season job to work on)

man that makes a poly tank look so much better lol

Dude, some GREAT folks on MUD. Just talked to blitzkreigfj on the phone and he is going to set me up with some gauges.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

I h8 tax season.. mainly cause we get no updates from kelly.. I TRIED my best to find that clamp for you. my advice is to try Mark Algazy or call Marv at spector. your gonna need to talk to him personally cause sometimes the guys selling the parts just don't know. I think I spent 4+ hours with marv while he was playing stump the chump with me on parts and what years. most fun one can legally have.

Thanks Erik. I really enjoy sharing the progress with everyone, and every day when I drive past my garage, I get more pent up energy. When April 18th hits, I will be out there moving!!!

So, with that, I will give you the 2 second update... The inside of the gas tank from Pam is done. I need to sand the outside and throw some POR15 on it. Then, the tank can go in.

I also picked up a mini fridge out at Sears on sale. So, next time I should have a cold one ready.

I would like to heckle you now (to put a burr under your saddle) such that you might make your 45 build thread, so we can see your progress.

Thanks for your patience, and see you on the other side.

Cheers!

Heckler.. It will happen.. There will be a thread.. Let's just say I told the other job last week i wanted to go as needed instead of part time.. That's a big step.. This ONE day off a week is not that much fun.
