Planning my first oil change when I hit around 500 miles. Probably a week or two away.

Without dropping my skid plates, it appears from other photos here that the stock oil filter is part number 9095-10009.

Searching for those online, however, continuously pulls up 9095-YZZN1, which claims to have superseded the other part number. "Superseded" in this context seems strange as the 10009 filter is obviously getting used on brand new vehicles right now.

I'm not sure if the oil filter issue is one that's been long-ago addressed in the Toyota world. Is there a commonly accepted replacement for the 9095-10009 filter, and is it 9095-YZZN1?

I’d go to the dealership and buy the correct one. Once you see that it’s right, buy a case of 12

The YZZN1 part was what a local dealer's website was recommending. I haven't spoken with anyone, though. Regardless, not sure if there's some internet wisdom that another filter is preferable for one reason or another.

It might be the difference between US made and JPN made filters?

Perhap @OGBeno can shed some light?

90915-YZZN1 is the Thai manufactured filter for the US market.

90915-10009 is the Chinese manufactured filter for other markets outside of the US.

I'm guessing they are otherwise the same filter?

The US/Japan thing makes sense to me.
My ‘24 LX came with a 90915-10010 made in Japan filter. I also just bought 6 more 90915-10010 made in Japan filters from my local Louisiana Lexus dealer.

Changed mine today at 1,300 miles. Toyota parts counter gave me 90915-YZZN1. I used my FJC supply of drain plug gaskets (90430-12031). I made up 28 ft-lbs for the drain plug torque spec since that seems close enough for me. If someone knows the real spec I'll edit.

If you use a funnel to fill, it likely won't go down far enough into the oil filler cap hole to stay upright. At least mine didn't. A bit of a pain to hold it and fill with the 5 quart jug. Saw in another forum that a 1 quart bottle fits it well, so I may try to cut one in half next time to use as my dedicated 250 funnel.

Plenty of dust grime to clean off.

Factory fill oil level was a tad above the upper limit mark - red arrow on the dipstick below. Been that way since day 1 of ownership. After the oil change and adding ~5.9 qts, it's a little more than halfway between the two limit marks.

Ugh, this is where my Subaru makes so much sense, mounting the filter on top and in a way that it just drains back into the engine when removed. Toolless oil changes that take no time at all.

My tundra skid mounts are so rusted that I need to reach in from the top and let the oil filter fall into a ziplock bag because if I remove the skids now they'll never go back on.

My LR4 had the easiest oil changes ever. Filter on top of the engine, and inside the oil fill cap was a permanent small metal tube that went all the way down to the bottom of the oil pan. Just hooked a mightyvac up to that metal tube and sucked all the oil right from the top of the engine without having to fish a plastic tube down through anything. Could change my oil after work in my dress clothes.

Oil changes on the Land Cruiser will be a bit messier, but it's honest work. Not sure if it's advisable to use anti-seize on the skid plate bolts.

I don't think the dealerships would appreciate them making it TOO easy.

Super easy oil change. need to loosen the slider bolts way out on the skid plate.
Interesting that the front drive shaft has a grease zerk but rear does not.
The above mentioned oil filter is correct, it also fits a camry so cheap.

I have had every series except a 40 and 55 and this is by far the easiest oil change, still wish that the oil filer and drain plug could be drained at the same time into my drain bucket. will be putting a fumoto on to do so. guessing the 103 is the same one for all toyotas I have had so far.

@Lopott Was your oil filter installed with a breaker bar? I couldn't believe how tightly mine was installed.
Mine was very very tight.

I partially crushed the old filter with my removal tool.

The oil filter on my LC was tight as well...I was always taught the oil filters should be hand tightened and then a 1/4 turn more...on oil the gasket before installing. Maybe the folks in Japan have really strong hands...

I have done the "break-in oil" change at 650 miles and could not believe how small the filter was...It's almost comical! So I'll ask on this thread if anyone is aware of a different Toyota filter (taller) that would fit these trucks?

It was incredibly tight, I just did by hand as always. But so much better then the 200 with its housing etc.
