Wonder why Toyota didn't design the lc250 to have the paper element filter like the 3rd gen Tacoma ?
Oh yea because the paper element filter idea sucked
Did my 1st oil change @1k. I feel even ripped off by Toyota now... Definitely need a 2" lift and 34s for improved oil change access in-between mall crawls

To my OCD people (Oil Change DIY-ers - quite possibly the same group as regular OCD). Who cleans the dust and dirt grime off the housing before they reinstall the new filter?
I have a feeling the dealership never touches this grime during a change. And if they do, they likely get a good amount of it onto the oil filter inlet threads. Mine pictured halfway through cleaning. Curious what others do. I find this the most tedious part of the oil change on the 250.

I told them to NOT rotate tires as I had just done it, so all I got was a free wash and the missing rubber bumper on my fuel door replaced with one from the dealership owners personal 250. (I live 2 mountain passes away from the dealership and they wouldn’t mail me the tiny bumper so I could put it in myself).
Oil Maintenance Required Soon warning in the instrument cluster is in kilometers (km) and not miles.

That’s weird. I shuffle back and forth between kms and miles regularly as I live on the border. When I’m in miles, I still get a tiny km/h readout in the corner of the screen.
I just did my first non dealer oil change. I was a bit shocked at how much oil went everywhere. Made quite a mess. You’d think by now they’d have figured out how to let oil drain without it running down the skid, and other parts underneath.
