+2 on the invite to Mac's Speed Shop. Hoping for a big turnout Tuesday night.

welcome!

The 'I had no idea' comment is pretty valid. I was actively looking to join a local club and didn't find this place till I physically met a member at a cars and coffee. (@Rice)

Would be good to maybe fix that with some SEO or something?

Not too sure. I just know for direct bolt up it was a no go.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the community here and just noticed the NC-ONSC club. I live in the Charlotte area and wanted to check with you all in that I'm looking for a '97 with F/R lockers that's pretty solid mechanically, with body in good condition (basically, something that's been taken care of) -- I thought I'd have a much better chance of finding it in a community like this. I recognize that leather of this age is more likely going to be rough, so not a deal killer if that's the case. Anyway, would any of you all have such a vehicle that you'd consider selling? (or know someone who would?). I'm not in a rush, just want to find the right one. My budget is in the $9k-$13k range, but could go up a little more if it warranted it. I'm looking forward to joining the fun you all are having! Feel free to PM me. Cheers!

I have the 2f pan. I just wonder if 3f lines can be modified to fit 2f.

I think I have found the lines, but I still need the pan. What's your cost?

Welcome unicorn hunter!

The hard part will be the lockers. I ended up finding an unlocked one and for $300 (plus install cost if you don't do it yourself) you can lock the rear with an Aussie locker.

Don't dismiss a non locked, rust free, well maintained example due to the lack of lockers. It could potentially lower the price by more than what a full set of ARB lockers would cost.

Good morning and welcome. You have a pretty narrow search parameter, you may want to open it up up a bit to include perhaps a rig with no lockers and maybe even other years like 95,96. Lockers can be added after the fact and can help open up your search a bit without them. I am constantly on the search for 80s on the other end of the spectrum and do not see too many with factory lockers. Here are a couple leads.

Hey thanks, NCFJ - much appreciated. I hear ya; I've actually found a handful ('96 & '97s) over the last 3 weeks that looked like perfect candidates, but upon deeper inspection, found things like a bad title, or a heavily rusted undercarriage, or a rolled back odometer (things that would come back to haunt anyone), which caused me to move on... BTW, are you familiar with the "euro-cars" outfit out of Pennsylvania that is all over ebay Motors? Do you know if those are restore projects or originals? Everything looks almost too perfect to not be restores. The ones they currently have sure are sporting hefty price tags. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has dealt with them and had a positive or negative experience.

Thanks! (ha ha "unicorn hunter" :D) If my hunt goes on too long, I may have to consider your suggestion, and I appreciate any tips!

I found this one, and was wondering if anyone had seen it and noticed anything of concern in the pictures. Not sure, but in the 5th picture from the end (transfer case?) it looks like they used that red gasket goo -- is that a "no-no" or a no big deal? Any opinions? Toyota: Land Cruiser 40th anniversary Just curious what more experienced eyes would say. Thx!

Onemanarmy- as for the 55 it wasn't quite spray paint, but I've seen better come out of Maco. Orange peal, fish eyes, painted over chips and drips in the paint are a few paint issues I noticed when looking at it with Erymer. But then again if it were me, I would repainted it anyways as that was a LOT of green. I don't mind that color but should have stuck with the orig two tone, then it would be tolerable.

The 55 is on eBay now

Hey that's factory red goo now ;)

All is good there. Welcome to the club and happy hunting

The valve cover looks to be from a F engine and I thought the 2F was in the 1974 models. Correct or wrong?
