I recently bought this awesome truck from a fellow Mud member. The truck spent most of its life in SoCal and was heavily modified several years ago by Man-a-Fre.

Stats:
Here’s a run-down of the modifications:

Engine and Drive Train:
* High performance complete engine rebuild (Man-a-fre)
* Rebuilt complete head assembly (Toyota of North Hollywood)
* Tuned ceramic headers, high-flow catalytic converter (Man-a-fre)
* Toyota H55F 5-spd. transmission swap from a BJ60 (Man-a-fre)
* Rebuilt transfer case (Man-a-fre)
* Rear differential locker (Man-a-fre)
* Centerforce Clutch (Man-a-fre)
* Jegs aluminum coolant recovery reservoir
* All old vacuum lines have been replaced
* 38-gallon extended fuel tank (Man-a-fre)

Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Tires:
* Complete Old Man Emu suspension system, with Dakkar leaf springs (springs, shocks, steering stabilizer, anti-inversion shackles, bushings, steering arms, brake lines - Man-a-fre)
* New OEM tie-rod ends (Man-a-fre)
* Rebuilt steering box (North Hollywood Toyota -- no leaks!)
* Rebuilt power steering pump (North Hollywood Toyota)
* New front brake rotors/pads (Man-a-fre)
* Braided steel brake lines (Man-a-fre)
* Toyota T100 16" steel wheels
* BFGoodrich 255/85R16 KM2 Mud Terrains

Electrical:
* Mean Green 200 Amp alternator (Man-a-fre)
* Dual Optima red-top batteries
* Painless Wiring 250W dual-battery isolator switch and control (Man-a-fre)
* 2 Hella Halogen driving lamps (Man-a-fre)
* Hella H4 conversion headlamps (Man-a-fre)
* 4+Plus battery tray (Man-a-fre)

Recovery:
* T-Max Outback Series 9,000-lb. Competition Winch, with remote (Man-a-fre)
* 48 Inch Hi-Lift jack (rear-bumper mounted)

Body:
* 4+Plus front winch bumper (Man-a-fre)
* 4+Plus rear bumper with spare tire carrier, dual NATO-style can carrier, and hi-lift jack mount (Man-a-fre)
* OEM Toyota of Australia side mirrors (Man-a-fre)
* New black grill and headlight trim
* New side markers and tail lights

Interior:
* Eclipse CD/FM/AM/Sirius/XM headunit, sony amp, Infinity door speakers
* FJ62 rear shoulder belts
* Weathertech mats front, rear, and cargo
* Specter Off-road "Tuff Duck" seat covers
* Tuffy-style center console (not Tuffy, but similar style and padded)

History:
As far as I can tell, I’m the 5th owner. I searched through old Mud threads to try to piece together the truck’s history. This is what I found:
* Owner 1 (in SoCal) – Had extensive work done on the truck at Man-a-Fre, most of it during 2006-2007 and at roughly the 250,000 mile mark. Put about 6,000 miles on it after that and then sold it on Mud in May 2010.
* Owner 2 (in SoCal) – Put about 10,000 miles on it and then sold it on Mud in July 2011.
* Owner 3 (in TN) – Drove the truck cross country from SoCal to TN. Put about 6,000 miles on it and then sold it on eBay in January 2012.
* Owner 4 (in GA) – Drove the truck from TN down to Atlanta. Realized quickly that his wife would prefer something more modern, so he sold it on Mud in February 2012.
* Owner 5 (in AL) – ODO was a little over 272,000 when I picked it up.

First impressions:
This truck is awesome. I drove it over 200 miles home, and it had no problem running 70-75 on the highway. Most things appear to be in good working order; although, I’m not sure yet about the dual battery controller. It has the Painless Wiring system. I looked up the manual online, and according to it the 3-position switch should show green light / no light / red light, but the lights don’t come on regardless of the switch position.

My plans:
While this rig passed relatively quickly through the hands of owners 2, 3, and 4, my focus is on the long-term. I plan to use it for family camping and overland trips, and perhaps as a daily driver.

Potential upgrades:
So much has already been done to this rig that it doesn’t need too much more. The first major item will be sliders from White Knuckle Off Road. I ordered them a few days after getting the truck; hopefully they’ll be here in the next week or so. I’ll post pics when they arrive.

I’m also considering interior upgrades. I’ll probably start by swapping out the console for a Tuffy, installing a CB and possibly a Ham radio. Further down the road…maybe replacing the carpet along with some sound-deadening, installing the WagonGear panels, recovering the seats, etc.

Pics:
(these aren’t my pics; they were lifted from the sale thread)

You're a lucky guy, truly one of the nicest 60's out there! I'll just highjack everything that's been done to that truck and put it on my 'wish list'!

Wow - nice score!
Welcome to Mud:cheers:
Butt

Thanks!

I've actually been on Mud since 2006 (username rcstrickland). I'm online all the time, I just hardly ever post. My username on other forums is gaap master, and since Mud won't let you change your username I just created a new account here. Figured I'd be posting here more often now that I have something to post about!

Great looking rig! Are there spacers behind those wheels and if so, how big? Are those 235/85s?

Thanks!

I don't think there are spacers. I can't see any. Would I be able to see them without taking the wheels off?

The tires are 255/85R16
.

That's a cool 60.

May wanna edit your original post.

It reads:

"* Toyota T100 16" steel wheels (5)
* BFGoodrich 255/85R17 KM2 Mud Terrains (5)"

I've never heard of a 17" tire on a 16" rim. :D

Just giving you a hard time!

Glad you have a 60!

Good catch. I copied the mod list from the sale thread...meant to correct that error but forgot to do so.

I tried to edit the post, but I haven't figured out how yet. Maybe that function becomes available after I pass 10 posts??

Yeah probably something like that. Been a while for me! It's crazy how much I've learned on here though.

Great rig! This is pretty much the exact direction I have been heading with mine. Great to see another white FJ60 for a little inspiration!

Nice Rig!

More pix - and I'm interested too, if those wheels need spacers or not.

Thanks!

Very cool. Looks a little like mine (Well duh, it's a white FJ60).

I love my WKOR sliders. They'll be a nice addition to your Cruiser (and they'll cover the naked rocker panels).

Enjoy.

Thanks for the invite, Eric. I wasn't able to make it this weekend because my son had a baseball game, but hopefully I'll be able to make it to GAP soon.
