Spotted an old friend at the Overland Expo PNW event. Excited to spend the weekend with it :D

I loved my first American Adventure lab spare tire platform so much that I bought a second one. Had to take 4 inches off of the inside of each to make them fit, but I now have 78" x 20" of cargo space, or about a 1/3 of a full size truck bed available for use all the time!

Still waiting on RCV axles…

One thing I've been wondering lately is what considerations go into choosing driver side vs passenger side awning. I think I've mostly seen driver side. Any insight why you chose passenger side? I could see minor benefits to either choice, but nothing really sticks out as a major compelling reason either way.
I read somewhere about the Aussies installing on the passenger side, and that made sense. Worth a try. I think either side would have worked for me. If you are planning to remove one side or the other of the 60/40 rear seat, that perhaps would factor into which side the awning would have the greatest utility.

Fun running Heartbreak Ridge in Big Bear with trailers in the group.

Ran Red Cone yesterday with the family. No camping this weekend, but I was able to get a day trip out of them.

My wife spent the better part of our alpine visit Identifying all the wild flowers and was able to grab a quick pick of the truck.

I also swiped a boulder through a tight section below the tree line. It rubbed the tire in a way that it tore and pushed my valve stem cover down onto the stem. Putting pressure on the valve, so most of my passenger rear tire air was lost. ( I thought it was bugs making the hissing noise for about 10 minutes).

Quick fix and an air up. However, it made me rethink my kit and order a few Colby stems. Had it ripped my valve stem out entirely, it would have been a frustrating spare swap.

All in all beautiful day and nice to leave the 100 degree weather in Golden.

What size tires are those?

Spectacular country. I love trails through open, alpine-height mountain ridges!

What a crew! What a front man!

LCs running point and rear guard!

Thanks! The group had a ball. We don't have any Jeeps in the group (they're often too small for family trips like this), but the cruisers were in a league of their own. Walking up everything without drama. The difference in proportions, articulation, traction (we both have rear lockers) - they couldn't put a foot wrong even on the harder lines.

Not cruiser tech, but I was surprised at how poor a new factory Raptor is in deeper ruts and rock gardens. They just switched to a 5-link rear axle setup (like our 200-series), but their rear LCAs have really bad clearance even with 35ss Lots of dragging. Sure they're longer in wheelbase, but earlier gen Raptors with leaf springs had better clearances. Black F150 on leaf-springs lifted with 33s had better clearance than a Raptor 5-link on 35s. Black F150 had a new off-road trailer and we threw him into the deep end tackling obstacles he's never even done not-towing. The trailer did great, and went wherever the tow vehicle could take it without complaint. I need one.

An off grid and a Vorsheer. Two amazing examples of proper engineering!

I can certainly relate to a lot of what you are saying. The LC make everything look so easy, they just do their thing…

We had a lifted Taco with a rear locker behind us all day on Saturday and he struggled on multiple occasions. Mostly needed some guidance on which lines to pick. But he did mention how east the LX made everything look, even lugging a full family of 4 and a big hound in the trunk.
