Just announced at the closing event LCDC 10:

LCDC started with a dream - a dream to bring other Land Cruiser enthusiasts together, to meet new friends and to share our passion for the great outdoors. As we closed out our evening together tonight, we made the official announcement to close the LCDC chapter. After 10 years and countless memories, all we can say is what a ride! Hope to see you on the trail.
Sad 😢 but I’m glad to be part of LCDC event. I joined and volunteered as a trail lead for LCDC VI & VII (missed VIII). With minimal knowledge prior (just a copy of Funtrek) and learn from others trail lead. Thanks LCDC to give me a chance.

I was waiting the whole time for Cody to say “just kidding see you next year in XXXX” and it never came

I know it must be an insane amount of work to put on such a great event. This was my 3rd and I am thankful I at least got to experience that many. Looking back it’s incredible the friends I’ve been able to make—people from all over the country coming together to enjoy our trucks in beautiful Colorado.

For that and for the work you guys have put in over the past ten years—thank you so much @codyaustin5 and @indycole

It was a great day, thanks Geoff. Would love to buy you a beer on one of your visits to Champaign. ILL
I will be 100% taking you up on this now that I’ll be down there on a regular basis for the next 4 years

Thank you @codyaustin5 and @indycole for all the work you’ve put into this event over the last 10 years. I can imagine the work and time involved in putting this together year after year.

@codyaustin5, you mentioned last night doing this to get people interested in 200-series land cruisers. Well, it worked. The photos and stories behind the very first LCDC trip in Ouray were a huge influence on my decision to buy an LC. And the fact that you moved the LCDC around starting with #3 in Breckenridge (which was my first year) made what might have been a one time event for me (but probably not) guaranteed to be something I’d have to do year after year.

@indycole thanks again for all your hard work, for being so flexible with me over the years, and just generally going above and beyond time after time. Also thanks for a super fun Poughkeepsie run this year (and a helluva time on TOTW last year!)

I’d also like to say a special public thanks to @mcgaskins and @Markuson who respectively led and spotted me (and put up with my more or less complete lack of knowledge) through Red Cone in Breck in LCDC 3, which despite being a red trail was my first real trail ever. You guys were friendly, understanding, and overall just outstanding to hang with, and along with Cody’s inspirational (to me) LCDC 1 Ouray trip are the reason my family and I have been coming back year after year ever since.

Some pics from Stony Pass/Kite Lake. My wife road shotgun so got some pics. Ollie came too. Thanks @linuxgod for setting up a great run and to Gabe for leading.

I created an LCDC Alumni Facebook page for everyone. Please feel free to join. This is not to take away from the forum at all but to simply add another place to share memories, photos and videos of the last decade with one another. This is to honor the legacy Cody and Cole built and keep the community connected. You can also post events there to meet up. I hope this is ok to share and does not offend anyone.

This is disappointing news, was scheduled to attend this year but cancer blows and had a funeral to attend so had to cancel last minute. Between lcdc and postponing moving/retiring (Florida 3 more years) looks like it’s time to sell the 200. Glad to hear this year was a success and appreciate all the photos posted!

Just an update for the 200 that caught on fire. Thanks to everyone that reached out to help. This community is awesome. Especially Bret (@LvCruiserNewb) who carted me around for a day and half helping me get things sorted out.

Just a quick synopsis, after three days of trails including Imogene Pass, Ophir Pass, Black Bear Pass, and the Alpine Loop we were taking the shortcut back to Ouray with about 45min left. The driver behind me, Chris (@Trukk) radios that he could smell burning oil. I stopped immediately and could see smoke coming out of the front passenger side. I grabbed my fire extinguisher and sprayed the area around the exhaust manifold down. That put that fire out but there was still a ton of smoke. We popped the hood and another fire cropped up coming out under the fuse box in front of the firewall on passenger side. There just enough chemical in my extinguisher to put that fire out.

Initially we thought I had possibly broke something on the oil pan, but I have full skids, and didn’t hit anything noticeable that could have done that. Quickly realized my front suspension was fully squatted and surmised the leak was most likely AHC fluid. Checked oil and had plenty so most likely confirmed that. Assume it sprayed out of the hard line somewhere along the frame on that side onto the exhaust manifold.

After everything had calmed down we tried to start the truck but the dashboard was definitely not acting normal and wouldn’t even try to turn over.

With @Romer, Chris and Bret we managed to get the truck backed down to a wider spot in the trail. Dropped a pin and headed back to Ouray. Thanks to these guys for all being so calm and cool and getting everything settled quickly.

I just got word that as of 8pm today the truck has been recovered and is back in Silverton. I’ll be going in the morning to check it out and get stuff out of it. I would say it’s not clear what the future holds for the LX. I was able to rent a full size SUV from Montrose to get my camping gear back to AR.

Once again, thanks to everyone who reached out. Multiple cruiserheads I’ve never even met who heard about my issue reached out to offer help, and I really appreciate it.

It sucks, but at the end of the day, no one was hurt and so far nothing a credit card hasn’t been able to fix. Still had a great time this week, up until a point of course.

Chris is me. It was awesome to meet you, and was a lot of fun until.......

I'm just glad no one was hurt. Truck damage sucks, but its just metal at the end of the day. Safe travel back to Arkansas, and hope to see you again next year at an event TBD!

So just caught up on all the news here. Glad I was able to be a part of the event last year and signed up for the event this year. Unfortunately my vacation plans evolved and I was not able to participate in LCDC much this year.

I was able to squeeze in an Alpine Loop run on Thursday. 😁

🍻 to the organizers of LCDC. All of the hard work you put into this event is much appreciated!

We’ll share an update with the broader LCDC community within a week or so that will go into a bit more detail about the decision. We are also still winding down aspects of this year’s event — shipping some t-shirts, finalizing the event’s contribution to Tread Lightly, etc.

We’re also thinking through how we may be able to help folks connect / exchange contact information especially since not all attendees are on the forum.

Reflecting on this week at LCDC it occurred to me that as a result of this annual event, there are probably 100 or more LC200/LX owners who could now lead a trail or feel comfortable heading out in a group for an adventure. That is actually pretty amazing.

For me LCDC X felt like graduation day. Training wheels are off.
The friendships I have formed along the way will continue on.
The adventures will as well.

To @codyaustin5 and @indycole - I appreciate your kind spirits and I will forever be grateful for the community you created.

Best wishes
Shawn

Wes, I am glad you got it off the trail. Wish we could have done that for you, but don't think it would have been safe to do so.

For Everyone- The problem was quickly mitigated because Wes was carrying a Fire Extinguisher. He had the fire out before I got back to him. Not everyone had a Fire Extinguisher. To me that is a critical part of your kit that everyone should have. If you attend Cruise Moab, you have to pass Tech Inspection before you can go through check-in. If you don't have one, a first kit, a radio or a strap we will not let you complete Tech Inspection until you go buy one and come back. Luckily, in Moab there are several places to buy that and everyone has been able to eventually proceed to check-in.

If we didn't have a Fire Extinguisher, then the fire would have gotten out of hand with a burning hulk in the middle of the trail. That would have been difficult to move and recover and no telling if it would have spread to the land around it. Wes did great having the proper equipment.

Great points Ken. When I first heard about the incident, I immediately worried about the risk of starting a forest fire which would obviously be devastating in many ways and very bad for the off road motorized community. Fantastic quick work and preparation @lx200inAR to avoid a catastrophe!
