The Wall:

Caleb and I split off from Poukeepsie group and did the wall. We each had a couple failed attempts requiring realignment but both eventually made it up and over. A couple vids below. The vids and pics don’t do it justice. It’s steep.

The color commentary by Caleb’s daughters is awesome. At the beginning of my attempt (after 3 or so failures and backing off) his daughter says “maybe we should take the overpass”. Priceless.

Calab took the better line and worked the skinny pedal perfectly. I got stuck half way up and we discuss for two minutes on what to do and I finally decide to hit the front locker and I go right up. You can skip to about 2:00 in vid to see when I hit the front locker (it was like the easy button). It’s the first time I’ve ever used the front locker in a real situation.

Lockers definitely help and maybe a rear locker is necessary. Has anyone done it w/o a rear locker? I think it’s possible
If you are willing to find the line.

The other thing about The Wall is that just getting to it is no joke and getting back to the main trail is ever worse. All good fun but not sure I need to do it again.

Thanks to you and @Markuson for taking us along on your "side runs" after the main event. Just a great time with some great

Hey, Y’all. Honest truth is…
1I LOVE the little side runs just as much as the “big kahuna” runs…maybe even more. And I’m grateful that Geoff Silver @linuxgod already had those awesome side runs in his excellent and friendly head for us all to enjoy. :) I get almost GIDDY seeing those valleys, mines, colors & combos only Ouray can put together in one place.
Secret 2. @Bullgump (Jasmin) and @linuxgod (Geoff Silver) are two fun, friendly dudes I’ve truly enjoyed hangin with ya...

And by the way… Cole Dudley -or @indycole has been doing similarly wonderful runs like these for years…and its been great to find more people with the same appreciation and pursuit of lesser hailed trails and paths. A+!!!

Hard to get a good shot of it, but here we are patiently letting a Marmot cross the trail in front of me on Imogene. 😂

Did Poughkeepsie with Ben this morning in the 8AM group--everyone who wanted to attempt the wall made it up, some with lockers and some without. Line choice is definitely king here and Ben had us take a super smooth and "easy" line hugging the far right side. Walked up with pretty much no issue--I have no lockers other than stock center. Ran it in 4Lo with center diff locked only in first gear/S1, MTS was set to mud/sand and then listened to spotter and gave it a bit of skinny pedal when necessary. I would agree getting to The Wall was just as bad if not worse--I took the right line around that big rock with the super deep moguls and struggled like hell to get through.

Just announced at the closing event LCDC 10:

LCDC started with a dream - a dream to bring other Land Cruiser enthusiasts together, to meet new friends and to share our passion for the great outdoors. As we closed out our evening together tonight, we made the official announcement to close the LCDC chapter. After 10 years and countless memories, all we can say is what a ride! Hope to see you on the trail.

It was a great few days. So many photos to go through. I had 2 great groups of folks follow me around alpine loop and stony pass. It’s so exciting to see brand new GX 550’s in the wild. It was great catching up with folks I haven’t seen in a while.

I’m not crying. You’re crying.

Thank you all for all of your hard work putting this event together. While I am disappointed that this is the last event (for now) I am grateful that I was actually able to attend this year after several failed previous attempts.
Thank you again for a great week.
