You should toss these. The AHC fluid is plastic bottles was contaminated and destroyed AHC systems.

Was trying to put on stiffer springs for my 570, (which didn't work with the AHC because they were too stiff), and I had to scavenge a quart of AHC fluid from a dealer 100 miles away. Refilling resevoir and had this at the bottom. WTF!?

Doing a knuckle rebuild on the FJ40 (1976 disc brake axle) and found the lower knuckle bearing gave up the ghost. In the process of destroying itself, it chewed up the lower bearing cap. Not sure if this is salvageable or not.

Does anyone have one of these laying around and are you willing to part with it in exchange for cash, beer, good Cruiser karma?

Ouch. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those caps, but I'm sure one is in somebody's pile. Good thing you found that.

Jon, Just file the high spots off and you should be fine. The cap bears on the bearing more toward the center, it looks like your damage is mostly in the "unloaded" space below where the rollers would sit. It's almost all in the chamfered portion. I'd just clean it up and make sure there aren't any high sports to mess with preload.

Cleaning up my basement storage space and looking for a new home....

Harbor Freight Easy-Flux 125 amp flux core mig welder (works on standard 15a or better on 20a 110v), used a couple of times a few years ago when I needed a cheap welder to fabricate a custom transmission mount on a previous vehicle. I've upgraded to the full monty Unlimited 200 multi-process that can do flux core too, so no need for 2 welders in my limited space!

Buy me my favorite Prime Rib sandwich platter for dinner and a beer or two at the next meeting and it's yours...
