IMHO, it is impossible to tell paint codes from pictures, especially the Toyota whites. If these are original "white" Toyota paints on these FJ40's then they could be T12, 031, or 033 depending on the year of the FJ40. These 3 codes are all very close to one another in color and difficult to impossible to distinguish apart by looking at the sprayed out colors even when side by side. I suggest getting a small sample of each and spraying them out yourself and then compare in varying amounts of sunlight and shade to see the subtle differences.

OK this is what I've dug up thus far. Rather than posting up formulas, I did a little excel spread**** with all those old codes from the earlier post (plus 302). The ones with the "yes"...I have codes for the affiliated BASF paint line in hand. Other marked as "no" may require more digging and/or ultimately they just may not be available. If you have an immediate need for the ones listed as "yes"...send me a PM and I'll shoot it to you. Lastly, as things move increasingly quicker towards water base (ONYX HD, in the BASF line up), some may never get reformulated. Heck...I never shot Limco before...it's fleet stuff I believe...I suppose they still make it.

Here it is thus far....

Pumpkin Orange FJ55

Here is an example of the Australian Pumpkin Orange with a clear coat. I had the painter spray out Al Jacob's formula on a chip. We sent it out and had a base paint made for use with clear coating.

Curious what you are referring to when you say "fj40 with the vent on roof".

Can you provide a picture?

Horizon Blue Question

Hey guys, we just started re-painting out 66 FJ40. It was multi-colored when we bought it, mostly black. But the VIN shows it should be Horizon Blue. We found a chart at TCPGlobal.com with the code T-1208 for 1972, but no similar color for our year. We bought the paint anyway, though, but were shocked by how Green it looks under incandescent light.

We fished out a bolt from the bolt bin that still had some of the original factory paint on it and compared it to our mixing stick. They look awfully close, but we were wondering if anybody else has a take on this Horizon Blue color. There's one at the beginning of this thread that somebody calls by that color, but looks a lot more blue than what we've got...

Wait till it dries for a few weeks and then look at it outside, not under floescent lights. You will be surprised how much differently it looks.

Nice color by the way:cheers:

Did you find any more original blue on your truck...under the windshield frame, behind an access panel on one of your doors...etc?

Here are two pics of a then new '66, and a color chart that had been posted up many times...might not answer your question completely, but hope these help

Kind of a bump for the guy looking for orange. I found these 40s about 15 years ago... he had a couple more in the shop and one in the back part of the shop as well. The earlier hard top 40 looks to have a factory color on it, the soft top looks like a coral red(?).
