All packed and ready for my first rubithon. Going on Sean's breakfast run. I was amazed how efficiently I packed my 40 for my wife and I. Most likely I am forgetting something if I fit everything in a 40.:hmm:

You are going to have a blast! Come say hi to Brian and Jenn. We are in a navy blue Toyota mini truck with a lumber rack.

Headed that way but just assumed there would be no vacancies in the cabins as I did not reserve one. So, just going to camp out farther up the road. Late start out of the Bay Area, having dinner in Fairfield, letting the traffic thin out...

See you tomorrow! :)

Yes sir, .see you tomorrow. Steve and Andrea in silver 60 followed by son Johnathan in his Green 80.

Machinist, been there, done that, you're doing the right thing - it'll pay dividends later. My first car, back in '83 when I was still in high school, was a '73 FJ40 with several Rubicon plaques on the glove box from the previous owner. I had that 40 for only a couple of years before I rolled it outside of Barstow. I tried to fix it (fairly clueless at the time) but ended up selling it so I could buy one way plane tickets for my bride and me to college. Since then I've been dreaming about doing the Rubicon, and this year I'm finally doing it!! Only took me 32 years, but it's finally happening and I'm stoked!! I bought a stock '87 FJ60 back in '92, which my kids drove through their high school years. I've since fixed that up a bit, and my kids have their own rigs. Very proud to be going with my son this year in his '97 LX450 that he's worked hard on to get ready (he just did a full engine swap). Point is, good luck on your finals - school can be the foundation of a happy future! Just don't wait 30+ years to do the Rubicon!!! Last thing - you're not too far away, perhaps we could get together sometime when your schedule permits. Make your own luck on your finals!
My current cruiser might not be under my care for too much longer, but I definitely look forward to driving one durring the Rubithion some day. I don't know what my summer schedule is going to look like just yet, (summer class + work), but you might be interested in this... https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/cr...to-gold-lake-for-a-second-year-norcal.832631/

Jenn and I are at cabins at ice house resort right now. It's not 5 star but clean and comfortable. Grass is nice for last minute pre trail repairs! :). Super comfy! ; ). They have gas here and stor is well stocked. Nothing is cheap but hey it's supply and demand working out herein the woods! :) We are enjoying ourselves... :). Anyone showing up here tonight?

We are eating dinner at Chili's in Carson right now. Should be up there just after 9.

We are in cabin 5. They unlocked cabin 8and 9 for you guys. Office will be closed but they said you could pay in the morning. Bring us some fries!!!! :)

We are sitting campfire side! :)

While most of ya'll are snoozin', we're just about to leave the Bay Area in a few...

See you all at Loon Lake for the Wagon Run!

How strict are we regarding the requirement of a hi-lift jack? I'm trying to get one from a Craigslist guy, but no contact so far. Do I need to get a crappy one from Harbor Freight on the way? Edit: in fact they're only $40, almost a no-brainer.

Another one in the books. Had a great time. Thanks to all for the help and parts to resolve the vapor lock problem. Got it solved Friday and the trip out today was a breeze, we were eating breakfast in South Lake Tahoe at 10. I hope everyone else has a safe trip home.

As a first timer this was an amazing trip and thank you to everyone who helped out with spotting and putting the event on! I had a great time out there and can't wait for the next rubithon!

I have to say, my uncle Joe and I had a blast for first timers... I actually did better than I thought I would. Although I clipped myself (passenger rear quarter panel) on the way out at Cadillac Hill, but it's something easy fix...

Many thanks to the Wagon group folks... Andy, Alvaro, Robie, Rick and to Dunkane who were all patient in helping us find the right line.

We exited Saturday morning with a couple Oregon/Washington folks...

Definitely doing it again next year...

Great time/first time! Tim and I in the 45LV really enjoyed meeting new and old friends. Felt out of place not having the Scrambler there...

I had a blast and more importantly, my wife had a blast too. It was her first wheeling trip of her life and she never complained once. That is amazing. She said everyone was very nice and pleasant. I did not see anyone get out of hand with the booze and be an ass. Good family event and the wheeling was great. Thanks to all who put it together. It was a lot of work and many appreciated it. See you next year.

Great Rubithon from my perspective. A week on the trail, minimal responsibilities, great to see old friends and make new ones. It was nice to see minimal breakage on the wagon run (save the 4Runner that broke immediately and had to return to Loon Lake-this was just like last year!). The wagons rocked it though, and I think I could have sold 3 Marlin Toyboxes on that run alone--obvious hint to Marlin....

The highlight of my trip-a 6am solo hike from Buck Island Lake back to Loon Lake. It was serene, quiet, beautiful. The sun rose while I was hiking up the slabs.

My carnage-1 quarter sized slow motion door ding on my FJ60-definitely operator denial/error, and a cracked power steering pump mount on my FJ40 (thanks to Tim for noticing that) that responded to 5 minutes of welding. I thought this was acceptable for having 2 trucks at the event.

A big shout out/thumbs up/props to Chairman Eric. The amount of time, effort, thought, and good humor he puts into this is amazing and appreciated by all.
