Work it Jim...

Me too. Sucked missing last year. I need to get outside and blow the stink off.

There a Marauder bar this year? That was a blast....at least I think it was, can't remember much of that night.........

Yes sir! Slightly different, if you aren't an obviously old person like myself, have a valid picture ID and requesting at least a $5 donation to offset the cost of the booze. Thanks again to the club that stepped in and picked this up for us. Your guys rock!

Ige & Pighead loaded and leaving now, see you on the trail.

Hey Coco, I know you mentioned it to me but which club picked up the Marauder Bar?

Pete, how do you get a Springs forecast? I can get Tahoma, etc, but now Rubicon Springs.

That's why I said it...........:bounce:

Most weather services just tag a location in their index with a nearby major city or area forecast, hense the smaller towns will often get incorrect forecasts.

I have found that there are 4 major weather areas in our area, the valley, the foothills, the "West Slope" (of the Sierra Nevada), and then the Tahoe Basin. I usually look at the forecasts for the west slope and Tahoe and when they are similar like now, I figure it is close.

The main forecast that I read does have Tuesday night with wind chill to 21.

To actually answer your question it came from weatherunderground and the city was "Cisco" which is Cisco Grove and Soda Springs on I80.

Just got back from this weeks visit of the Rubicon Trail, A little windy but great weather, only two Rubithon participants showed up one week early (scratch $160.00 bucks). Bring PLEANTY of mosquito repellant, Little Sluice Box has become a challange once again but it is good to see more rigs going through it, than just compitition rigs $. Bring a toilet if you are camping at Buck Island, or anyware else if you crap alot. Gotta keep the place clean. Don't need to pack firewood, campfire restrictions start the 17Th. Get a fire permit for your stove and propane bar-b-q. Any cold beer works good, don't have to bring the foo foo stuff. See you in camp. John

John,

Are you sure about the fire restrictions, this is on their web site today and has been discussed all week. The consensus is that the Springs and Buck are not on the "West Side". What are the folks on the ground saying?

"The Eldorado National Forest will be going into fire restrictions in the west side of the forest on Monday, June 17. Full fire restrictions are expected to take effect on July 1 for the entire forest due to dry conditions."

Hi Pete, confusing to me also, At the Rubicon Oversite Committee meeting Thursday, USFS changed their demarcation to elevation not Lat/Long position. stating 6000' or lower no camp fires. Camp fires should be OK on the trail, with a fire permit on hand. Rubicon Springs might limit to one main campfire. too windy the last couple nights to have a camp fire near a wooded area. Still confused? Me too, John

There is a bar, yes, on Friday night. However, it won't be the "Marauder" bar, as the club had to opt out this year. This is due to several factors, including the property owners requiring an extra alcohol insurance rider. They ran the bar on the tips from the previous year, as well as donations from the crowd. The alcohol piece of the puzzle was a recent change due to the incident this year at Jeep(Jeepers?) Jamboree.

The bar will happen on Friday after the Rock Chef contest is over. There will be a couple of changes this year, including ID + $5 for wrist bands. There is a local club that is purchasing the bar supplies, but at the moment they are reluctant to change the name from "Marauder Bar". And since they have no "seed" money, the hope is that the $5 will help offset the initial costs.

You will recognize many of the same faces as before behind the bar, and a few new ones. I promise it will be good.

A TLCA member business will be providing a special "something" when you get your wrist band. You'll dig it. If you don't I'll take it ;)

I've been sworn to secrecy.... but they are near the
Pacific ocean and the
coastal Mountain range.
They have been a Toyota Land Cruiser Association club for 16 years. :)
