Worked on the rig with cruiserfj45 (Thanks again!) after work today for about 4 solid hours.

New OEM Toyota parts:Wires, plugs, cap/rotor, fuel filter, valve cover gasket and grommets and half of the vacuum hoses.

Also, we did a valve adjustment and timing. Found out I need new belts and have my radiator serviced or replaced before the next smog test. I need to install a new cat as well.

Will tear into the suspension this weekend.

I did a quick oil change this morning after I found out my Tundra's oil filter's work on this FJ60. Convenient because I buy those by the case. I used 10-40 Super Tech rather than some fancy oil for a 190k+ motor.

Went for a quick test drive, I do notice a bit more power, but it just feels WAY more stable now. Still need the choke on cold starts, than it idles great and drives smooth.

Sweet!

Went for a longer test drive, felt factory.

TOYOTA is the shiznit.

I pulled the radiator from the donor and noticed it is in much better shape than mine.

I'm running it.

Next is the cat.

Found some time to tackle the radiator, this does not look good.

Yes, it is raining while I did this.

This does.

Getting rid of that FRAM filter feels so GOOD!! There is now way I drained 7 quarts out either. I also discovered a PO thought a cheapo fuel filter would work installed backward.

Plus, I really Dig these OEM wires.

Still tracking down the overheating problem and think I may have done it.

This is my attempt at burping the cooling system, couldn't quite get it to operating temp's due to low fuel in the Cruiser and the baby.

I also took the white TOYOTA emblem off the donor.

After the initial "burp" and letting it run for about 20min at 1500rpm, the temp gauge barely moves. Next test, drive it. Went for a short run around the neighbor hood, enough to normally get the temps up. And the temp gauge hangs out at about a 1/8-1/4 of the way up.

I let it idle in the driveway for another 10min, not much movement. Everything seems to be working as intended. I will know more after I get the new cat on, pass smog and drive it for awhile.

You're right - that radiator does NOT look good...

Once you get that new radiator bleed right you should have no problem. Sorry I couldn't stay longer on Monday. Keep us posted.

I hope I am bleeding it right.

I know it will run cooler, plus the new cat, I feel very optimistic about the next test.

By the way, the rear is now lifted with the 33's installed. Ran out of daylight and to give the neighbors a break, I shut the op down until tomm. Should be ready to go to my exhaust man very soon.

You where right about needing heat to remove a few spring hanger bolts. The driver rear/front and pass front/rear where MAJOR burgers in my time.

What are you going to do with the gray donor rig? I could use a few of the light assemblies, especially the rear tail light housings. Would you be willing to part with them?

Nice job on the cruiser so far. I'm looking forward to seeing it completed.

Reno isn't that far away, if you where to drive here, you would have first pickens.

So far the only things that may be spoken for locally are the springs and front axle assembly.

Thanks for compliment's, I'm moving faster on this project than any other I've had.

I should have the cat and exhaust buttoned up tomm.

Completed?....Are we ever done?

I've had Jeep's and hope I have learned from my mistakes. That being said, I want to keep this drivable, FJ60's can only be down for a few hours at a time, not like my CJ which was down for 3ish years.

Now it looks a lot better. Any problems with the radiator? When are you going to smog it? I wish I remembered when I was there. I need one of the rear side marker light assemblies. I may know someone going through that area. If you can hold it that would be great.

Smog should be re-tested soon, I took all of the exhaust off of RED before the GIANTS beat the rangers last night.

I just need to remove everything from GRAY and install it in RED. I was trying to not have to cut anywhere, but it just seems un-realistic now.

As far as the other parts go, I really should open up a new thread in the classifieds. Just haven't yet due to the fact that I'm using a lot more parts than I thought I would. (His stuff was well taken care off.)

looks freaking sweet!!!!

I need tailight lenses btw if you decide you want to get rid of them.

I will let you guy's know as soon as I have a new thread going.

I you're having trouble burping next time, give this a try

Butt

I've seen that thread, but, of course forgot. I will do that before I get to the smog test.

I did get all the exhaust swapped over this morning, sounds nice and quiet. Will get down to DMV for my one day registration pass later today.

Again, thanks for the compliments, it help's keep me on track.

Took some time to go to DMV, got the legal documents to move a vehicle, went to the smog man...

Everything is good EXCEPT...

2500RPM CO(%) is at 3.02 Max is 1.20

First test was

2500RPM CO(%) at 1.95

Smog guy said he thinks it's running rich and I should check the timing, I am very confident it's at 7 BTDC.

I think it is smog pump related, I will have to take the one from the donor and see what happens.
Still confused as to why it would go up that high.
