here's the new number's for those with an interest.

I think it's due to a faulty smog pump. But I would like feedback from those that have been through these waters and found ground.

Check the smog pump using the emission manual. Give me a call if you run into a wall and Ill see what I can do. I dont rember it pulling any air. Also replace the bad hose that you caught. The lo O2 number looks like the cat can use some more to help burn off the excess hc and bind with the CO.

I felt air coming out of the smog pump, but it felt weak. Replaced the bad hose. I did pull the smog pump from the GRAY, but wanted to make sure mine has failed.

I am going through the emission's manual right now. Figured the first place to start would be "Inspection of AI system" Did the first test and felt no air coming out of the bypass hose.

I finally saved enough coins to have JimC rebuild a carb for my 60. I am very confident that will help a few issues.

Once I get the rebuilt carb here, I will swap the intake manifold to get rid of the 2 hairline cracks in it. (That gray donor rig keeps giving and giving)

So far the gray has "donated" to the RED

  • HFS 2.5 lift/HFS 1" shackle lift
  • 33" BFG A/t's
  • Nice custom ordered rims
  • radiator
  • catalytic converter, and all the exhaust.
  • 2 carbs
  • intake/exhaust manifold
  • rear bench seat and belts.
Not bad for 1200.

i thought being in the grey was good and being in the red was bad? now your saying being in the red is good and getting from the grey is better?
my whole world is turned upside down.

Nice I need to stumble on a donor. But all the 60's around here have been taken care of.

That's how I got lucky. This one was well taken care of, just had an electrical fire in the engine bay. The guy I bought it from was to brokenhearted to restore what he had just restored.

SMOG and emissions are the biggest load of crap! Thank GOD I live in a slack emission STATE. God bless NC and east coast redneck inspection shops:wrench::hillbilly:

NICE work so far. My 60 keeps begging to be modded, but the 40 is first on the list and in @ 2000 pieces.

Look forward to the next upgrades I'm subscribing!

I just spent a ton getting my truck smogged. New everything... It sucked, I was planning on a lift and tires, but instead paid to pass smog. But I'm legal.

I wonder if these rigs have the same standards in every county. I think the Bay Area is more strict, while places like Weaverville or Yreka have none. Makes me want to dig a little to find out. I know of several places in Cali that do not smog due to higher elevation, maybe a place near by might have less of a standard. I don't know.

I may just move to the mountains, pull rigs out of snow banks, grow a beard and be done with it.

Believe me your not the only 1 looking into that. I think population density has some to do with it also.

I guess I was more nice than naughty this year, Santa is late, but will be dropping off some goodies soon.

I battled back and forth between the Tuffy or Smitty. I had a Tuffy in my CJ-7 and absolutely thought it was the perfect console. But, price won this battle, so I will try the Smitty. For $90 to my door, I can't be to disappointed.

The Smittybilt console will be installed soon after the brown man drops it off. I think I have a few weeks before JimC is done with the carb, so I'll keep working on the interior.

I noticed the donor had some 3.5" Rockford Fosgates and a set of 6x9 Pioneers. The Red rig came with a cheapo Jensen deck, but as long as I get ESPN radio and the SF Giants games, I'm happy. I'm not into loud stereos, with amps and sub's, just the basic's. I'd rather dump lockers in than an $800 system.

Keeping an eye out for some 1-Gen Tundra seats. My back never hurts driving the Tundra and think those would be "vary nice" in the 60.

I'm not to worried about the smog anymore, I have MUD to help out! That and the rebuilt carb should make this 2F run and "sniff" great.

Had a late night out in the garage doing a few installs.

Got the Smittybilt Console in and grey shoulder belts.

Rear bench seat all cleaned up and in with grey belts.

And my favorite mod last night, took the rear hatch shocks off the donor rig and put them to work.

Trying to prep everything for when the rebuilt carb gets here so I can just put it on. What I thought was a "hairline crack" looked like this after I had a closer look. I cleaned the bottom up to find it did in fact have a complete crack. Guess this is common on these rigs. Hopefully I won't have much of an issue since I have now fixed the "carb cooler" as well.

I was on my way to track down a universal socket joint to get at the last bolt, but thought one more try wouldn't hurt and finally got it removed from the motor today. Still have to clean up the threads on the bolts I removed or find the ones I took off the donor rig. I also want to run a tap in the threads to clean them up a bit so the Loctite will have something to bite on to.

Here's it's replacement.

I started on the air tube as well, only got one to move. They are very rusted!! PB Blaster should come make a commercial on this if it works.

Damn nice find. Let us see some pics of your suspension swap. And as for the cat pee, believe me some people are just nuts. That stuff is toxic. How did you black out your grill? I'm thinking of de-chroming my rig but not sure how to go about it.
