That "ish" means it will still provide the same style look of the OEM bows but with a kick. The old and new tops will fit what I'm making.

Goals.

A frame that will fold.
Bows that have the same appearance as the OEM style.
Use new materials to lower the cost over what you can buy one for currently.

First prototypes due 1st quarter of next year.
Stock inventory by spring of 2010.

I'll post my progress as I go.

please, please, consider a light colored top option (as close to white as possible) - for those of us in desert heat, black just doesn't work :frown:

I'm in for bows and top if you do both. I see Specter is offering a soft top. PS - '81 FJ40:beer:

lookin forward to seeing this. i was sad when the stp's went. i have a combo of fasttrack and old world, would be the cats meow. i love my paki top, but its a pain to keep undamaged.

Marshall I look forward to following the process on these, I know it was discussed in the original build thread for the Oem Style soft tops by softtopguy, but it would appear that has since weakened. I know your process was discussed in the beginning so as mentioned I look forward to seeing how it comes out.

I'm in for bows pending how much they are.

Any hope on Upstate Cruiser members a small discount? Can't blame us for trying. Can't wait to see the bow setup. The olny issue that I had with OEM type bows is that they wouldn't fold down.

Have been working on it. Have some very neat ideas. Tried having the sheetmetal made locally and the cost were way to high so I'm currently working on the molds for the composite bows and getting my mockup work done.

Glad someone else can second the sheetmetal costs, when I was working on this with softtopguy and highlandcruzer I had the same problems.....if only that little door bend wasn't there this would have all been much easier.

Marshall look forward to seeing your other option.

Any updates?

Is it safe to place an order with OCD for a top expecting these bows to be ready for spring rains? Just didn't want to get stuck ordering a set of bows from Boston for $800.

It looks like he raised the price on the bow set to discourage everyone from buying OCD's tops, which are superior IMO.
