Does anyone have a good photo of the clip that holds an OEM soft top window in position (#84 in the view below). I'd also appreciate a photo or description of the way that it is attached to the window (looks like it's just screwed to the window). I'm going to replicate a couple of them and would like to be as close to original as possible.

Thanks.

You can see one of the slots (behind the 34 year-old plexiglass) into which the clip protrudes to hold the window in place.

Thanks Mr. Toad.

Would you be able to provide some rough measurements for that clip?

It looks like there is a steel channel at the base of the plexi. Is that correct?

Voyager --- I think I could make you a couple. Most LC stuff is pretty easy to reproduce.

Thanks again.

Thanks Mr. Toad.

That would be really great! Thanks for the offer.. shoot me a pm if you have time to make em.. i'm restoring some doors right now and those handles are unobtanium.

Nice pics Mr. Toad.. like the avitar too.

That av was actually a news photo. The seal in the background looked like a halo. I couldn't pass it up. Even the haters like it.

Anyway:

It's 2" wide where it bolts to the channel. The bolts are 1.165" apart on center.

The flat of the "handle" extends about 2/3", including the little lip at the front. That's roughly the same size as the parallel flat that extends into the "V". I did not measure the little "step" between these parallel planes.

The "V" in the first photo is about 1/2" deep measured from the flat part bolted to the front of the sill.

Good luck.

Thanks Toad.

It's smaller than I expected, based on the photos.

I'll make 4 of them and then get back to you, Voyager. You'll have to come up with the channel on the bottoms of the windows, if you want them.

Todd.

Keep us posted on your soft door progress. I'm restoring a set right now too.

I checked with CDan before I started the thread. No go. ;)

New one is no longer available, at least from my dealer.

So is anyone making these yet? I need one for each door.

I could use that forward window gasket too.

I haven't gotten around to making mine yet (I just have other things that need to come first). However, I didn't plan to go into business making them. They're just a few simple bends.

I do have a line on rubber for the front vent window. It's not exactly the same as the original, but it's close enough that I think it will work. I purchased 10 feet of it but haven't installed it yet. It's from Metro Moulded Parts. I plan to use a cyanoacrylate glue to vulcanize the 4 sides of the weatherstrip, mitered at the corners, together.
