We got all that and more, but no one in the 90s in Australia wanted Diesel.....now they go for stupid money as a HDJ80 is rare!

why is that .. ?

I've never seen one here in Uganda that works properly, and none of our customers have ever been interested in repairing theirs. If it could make ice cubes, I'd install one in my HZJ80.

I have the Waeco Portable fridge that runs on DC available, they are $329 on Amazon, I have them for $300 if you are interested. It is the Waeco CDF-11 They fit perfect if you make a mounting bracket and bolt it to the floor using existing holes. Simple bracket out of plywood works perfect.
How hard is installation and wiring for a 0

Also how prudent is it to wire it directly to the battery without a 2nd battery

mdandashly - Wiring took me about 30 minutes, just ran a wire directly from 2nd battery. Installing it was fairly simple. Piece of plywood as the base, with 1X2 sides that hold the fridge in place. Velcro on the bottom of the fridge, and on the top of the plywood. It won't move. Then just bolt the plywood using existing holes. Total, about 1 hour.

Does anyone happen to know the reason why Toyota did not included the OEM Center Console Refrigerator/Freezer on the 80 series LC US specs? In Africa, Australia, Middle East and LC's sold in Venezuela came factory fitted with this.

Liability

Because we as Americans live in a sue happy society, that's why :meh:

Some drunkard would use the ice maker to put a couple cubes in his Scotch, then take to the streets and kill someone

It's not too far fetched to think the family of those who died would go after Toyota for practically putting a minibar in the center console

The same reason we don't get OEM snorkels or center diff lock switches on vehicles equipped with ABS or hand throttles :hmm:

Toyota knows some idiot would see the snorkel and automatically think they can go deep sea diving or someone will sue because their ABS didn't work after pushing the magic button and of course some moron would use the hand throttle as some kinda hillbilly cruise control :deadhorse:

It's our own damn fault that we don't get all the cool stuff :bang:

If you guys can afford, find and retrofit the OEM system, I would think this would be somewhat simpler:

I'm thinking of getting one, but of course you do need a good battery.

It'll hold two six packs, and you can install it as a center console.

That would probably be a better option than trying to install an OEM unit. While I love mine and it works great (makes ice cubes in about 60 minutes or so) the one drawback is the truck has to be running for it work as it runs off the AC system. Once drinks are cooled down in it, they will stay chilled for about a day, roughly, when the vehicle is turned off.

I would be interested!
Apparently the retrofit is extremely difficult, and phenomenally expensive if you don't have all the parts.

On the Lexus LS460 it is an option and it runs of Rear AC.
The Waeco cooler is the way to go. It's $300 and works like a champ.

If you want that OEM look I would get the bare console and adapt the Dometic's system to cool that enclosure. The Dometic is actually a superior system as it can run with the engine off and does not require 20 feet of extra refrigerant lines!

I've never seen an ice maker in the LS, only a beverage cooler :hmm:
Correct Statement. It's not even a cooler but a chiller and they say it does not make drinks cold.
Waeco is the way to go.

I've got one...I have yet to test it out. I drive 4 miles to work one way, so I really don't need to use it. I am going to test it out one of these days.

I have no idea how it works. I can try to see what it would take to install one if anyone was interested.
