Hello wise FJ lovers,
I would like your help diagnosing some strange problems with my 1976 FJ40
Here they are:
When first turning over, the starter spins slower, then gets faster the longer it spins. This may take a couple 5-10 second cranks, with the starter spinning faster and faster the more it cranks. It will only fire up once the starter has gotten faster. Sometimes it spins fast right away.
Next, while cranking it, if you rock the car side to side, it will start. It takes much longer to start if you don't rock it. But it has to be cranking fast. Sometimes when the engine is warm it doesn't need as much cranking/cranks fast immediately/doesn't need to be rocked.
I know it sounds weird, has anyone experienced or heard of this?
Thank you for any ideas
