Do not be nervous. Read thru the various threads. There is good info in them and most if not all questions are delt with.

Pay close attention to the shift fork positioning, use a new shift collar if you can.
Check the tolerance between the main shaft and hi speed gear carefully.
Do not freak out when you do the first oil change and there is a lot of silver, it comes from the gears breakin in.

Thanks I'm going to get the old case pulled this weekend. And then next week tear into it!

I;m putting mine together as we speak AA forgot to put a shim package in the box and it appears the spacer on the imput shaft is missing also . Has anyone had any issues like this ?

Which spacer are you referring to?!

The only spacer included in the kit is the one that's located between the roller bearings on the idler shaft. The other spacers used would need to come from your donor case.

The shim pack should have been included with the kit.

posta pic and measurement of your stock pto gear spacer. it's not uncommon for the rear support bearing to stick thru into the t-case a little, i've seen as much as 1/4" and they work just fine.

Georg, is this a different Orion case? From this pic the ps looks different, like a lot of bracing on the end.

Thanks, Dan

All the cases are the same. I re-paint them so the machined surfaces don't rust and I install the later model ribbed 4spd nose cone and one of my nose cone savers on every Orion I build.

good work micah! wasn't that big a deal, right?! do yourself a favor and pull the bearing at the top back out. it's the one that the transmission output shaft goes thru. I usually install them after the t-case is mated up to the trans. the piece of 1.5" steel tubing AA supplies in the orion kit makes a perfect install tool.

another trick: find a couple of extras of the long bolts that attach the t-case to the trans. cut the heads off and then slot the end with a cut-off wheel so you can use a screw driver to install/remove them. put them in the upper-most holes on the trans and then use them to slide the t-case into place.
makes install a lot easier......
