Hello all, thank you for welcoming me into the community. I have a 2007 LC with AHC and the rear middle AHC line seems to have sprung a leak. I am now weighing my options in regard to what to do next. I am leaning towards doing a standard suspension converse as I haven’t found a mechanic knowledgeable enough to work on the LC’s suspension.

I have two questions:
Does anyone have a part list for a standard conversion?

And, I have heard some people had luck making new AHC lines. I’m not sure how that process works but if anyone has any information about that process it would be helpful as well.

Thank you!

I just replaced one yesterday, assuming you mean the rear passenger line that goes to the shock. That one is the one that leaks first for some reason, i must've done about 10 by now and it's always that one. Post some pics of the rust, if it's not too bad i'd try to save AHC, it's the best system. But if the rust is beyond control then i would replace with static suspension.

I live in Belle Harbor Queens and have lost 2 AHC lines over the years to rust - about $1400 to replace each one. Can recommend a mechanic if you need one.

Holy ishhhhh...how much are mechanics making up there? I charge my customer $350 for labor and the parts he supplied, which ran him $250

If you're working on AHC and not charging $200/hr you're selling yourself short. What's "book time" on a line replacement anyways? Must be many hours...

Wow, you've done a lot of them! You da man! How hard is it to replace that line? To clarify my question, I think it's safe to say you're not lifting the body off the frame... so how hard is it to gain access to replace that line? I'm kind of fascinated by this topic.

Same here. To append my own question - are there any lines impossible to replace without lifting up the body or doing something equally major? I've seen some cases of splicing and such, so I was just wondering if people did that from laziness, ignorance of necessity.

These cruiser guys are somewhat my regulars here so I don't charge them a lot. It only takes me about 1.5 hours to replace that line and burp the system. so $350 seems fair, i know dealerships will charge a lot more.

I've replaced all 4 lines and haven't felt the need to lift the body off the frame, it takes some sneaking around but they can all be done. The rear right you'll have to work around the muffler but there's one specific orientation where the rubber line gives enough flex to snake it through to the accumulator. The hardest part is removing the 2x 12mm bolts holding the line to the shock, if they're really rusted the bolts are likely a size 11mm now, and you have to use heat to work them loose or they'll snap off and then you got more problems.

I’ll get up underneath and take some pictures 💯

I could definitely use a mechanic in the area familiar with our chasis. $1400 each line!? How much of that was labor?
