Nutserts on an ARB bumper?

I haven't seen nutserts on a top plate on any bumper. This bumper was new - out of the box - and showed no signs it was installed and removed... like maybe it was a return. But, it's got four nutserts where I'd have expected to see just open holes. Anyone know if this is common? Unique to these bumpers? Was there a grille guard option back in the day?

Mine just had holes when new so my bet is just aftermarket nut rivets installed for demo or something.

pretty sure mine has those, but would have to run outside and check. They should be for mounting lights.

That’s exactly what they’re for. They’re for mounting lights! There should’ve been two plates that go over them that you would mount your lights to. You can see the plates in this pic of my old 94

I cover mine with black duct tape. Haven't found the cash to buy lights yet.

I looked at my bumper yesterday and they have the rivets in as well. Good to know all though it's a little high for a proper functioning fog light setup. More like an AUX lights location.

Agreed @se7enine. There are actually a few things I'd change if the bumper weren't already powder coated...
- No rivnuts
- No roller fair lead mount/bracket. I get it - everyone used rollers when this bumper was drawn on a drafting table but, I'll be using synthetic line and a hawse lead
- The holes for the hawse lead are in the wrong place - new ones need to be drilled... and touched up.

BUT, still super stoked to have found this bumper in 2020.

If the ARB has the same roller configuration as on my 80 series, you need to source an 'offset' hawse (bunch of companies make them, just search for something like ARB and hawse etc). It will then bolt straight up and have the line coming out properly.

Turns out, the interwebs are full of them - google "offset hawse fairlead"...

Yes, I googled right after I was on Mud. I want to switch to synthetic line on the winch, so looking at options for the ARB bumper.
