Inbox is cleared now... excel sheet hasn't been worked on at all from the last time (April?? or March?).

Seat Belt Floor Anchor Bolts

4 11mm x 1.25 x 25mm 5mm Shoulder. Split+Flat washers. 17mm head

is this correct? or is it a 12mm?

I'll pm ya the excel now. I think I have everything that has been posted to date.

coolerman, send me your email. Mud's not letting me send you a file. May be operator error on my end. Eric

Sorry to any and all who have emailed / PM'ed me in the last couple months. I have been busy and not doing much Cruiser related things (except driving 'em ;)).

So, if I can get FJ40_73 or someone like Coolerman to host, we can get the most up to date (but out of date) excel sheet up.

FJ40_73--- Thanks for hosting it.... I am very sorry to say that you have the extremely outdated file. If you PM or post your email, I would be happy to email you the newer "outdated" one.

I've got almost all of this done in excel myself from info posted up here. When I get it finished, tonight of tommorrow, I'll post it up.
Bad Coco --- Could you email me this?

What? You didn't immediately add the new stuff I posted? The IH8MUD community is waiting breathlessly for the update! :D:D:D
:frown: Sorry Coolerman... I haven't. I and don't know if I will get to it until Christmas. I did get some more sizes to add, until my own project was put on back burner :crybaby:

Thanks !

Don't sweat it! Much as we love our Cruisers life sometimes has to come first! I go for weeks and never touch mine then will tear into with a vengence.
I'll be happy to host the file and will add a link to it on my web page.

I checked it several times, once with a bolt sizer and twice with calipers, mine are 11mm.

Read somewhere that seat belt bolts are made an odd size to keep folks from using a lower grade bolt in their place? Urban legend?

Can someone else verify this bolt?

Okay, I don't know if this really fits in here - but what is the size/thread pitch/availability of brake ferrules? I don't imagine the 10mm head is all too common, but maybe it is. Sorry I don't have anything to contribute.

Funny that the T-Case stuff is on the last page. Just what I was looking for. Any idea about the bolts holding the halves of the split cases together and connecting the split case to the transmission?

Sorry, All I have for reference is my 2/71. ;)

As stated way back, ALL my posts are for the early Cruisers. Though of course most are direct fit across most years. YMMV :D

If you find out what they are post them up! This thread needs more information!

Great thread, lots of hard work. Does anyone know what the grade of bolt would have been from Toyota? I imagine the grade would vary based on the use, but does anyone know? Also, I see mention of std. hex heads but no one found a source for JIS in yellow zinc? My bolt supplier here in ATL spent a lot of time looking and was only able to find JIS in silver zinc, grade 8.8. no 10.9 :( the price for the 8.8 is not too bad and we can have them replated yellow zinc in one week. the question, is the 8.8 grade enough for general inventory stock as mentioned in the thread? I just want to buy large qty so I am not having to run around looking for each one. that will drive you crazy. but i do not want to use the std. hex head and of course those are easy to find in high grade. sorry for the rambling. just trying to get it right.

Coolerman, just to be clear. What kind of bolts are you using? JIS or DIN? Yellow zinc, SS, silver zinc? My bolt supplier has JIS in silver zinc, grade 8.8 but no 10.9. So after all the searching, we are going to have these plated yellow zinc. Also, does anyone have the approximate qty. needed of the M10 sizes in the various lengths? The previous lists have not included the qty. of M10 needed.

Here is the list I am working on based on the spread sheets and Rzeppa's list. Need to firm up the Qty. needed so I can order. Thanks

Found another good source of nuts n bolts. JIS!!! too!

Heres a link to a pdf page that has lots of stuff. This place actually has the most wide assortment I've seen of just about every fastener made...

The link shows 8.8 and 10.9 metric (YELLOW ZINC) with the JIS head sizes.

(look for HEX HEAD SEMS BODY BOLTS) scroll down a ways... JIS listed there too...

Mixture of all the above, but mostly using OEM. :D If the web site posted by thecrazygreek works out I'll order from them and go back and replace OEM pieces I've "restored" (sandblasted and powder coated) with new JIS.

On the strength issue.. The bolt strength required depends on the job the bolt is doing. My take on this: If the bolt is holding a body piece to the body, or some small something to the engine, I use 8.8. This covers all the 6 and 8mm bolts. Suspension or drive train I use 10.9 or better. OEM bolts where required.

One thing I love about Toyota OEM bolts: Most are stamped in the head with a 4, 5, or 7 You can refer to the attached page to see what strength each actually is.

Edit: Most of the Toyota bolts on my 2/71 FJ40 are stamped 4 or 5. As far as I can tell the #4 bolts are way weaker than 8.8 or grade 5, and the #5 bolts are borderline Grade 5. So any replacement bolts will be stronger than the original OEM bolts. (I would bet that OEM replacements are better bolts) Ever noticed how easy it is to break a 8mm bolt on a Toyota? :D

Coolerman and thecrazygreek, I just got off the phone with OEM. They said they have the M6 & M8 Hex Head SEMs in stock but not the M10. As for JIS the guy I talked to thinks they are clear zinc, not yellow. So the big question I have not is what to order. SEMs are the same as JIS they just come with the washer attached. So what do I order? I have not worked on the cuisers much and it was so long ago that I took it apart I can not remember what was typical. And most of my stuff was lost my a previous mech. that worked for me. :( I have emailed the above list from my earlier post for the sales guy to price, but can someone help me with exactly what should be ordered. If we need JIS as vs. the SEMs my local guy can get those as well and have them plated yellow zinc. Should be less than shipping from Canada and then they still have to be plated.
