Heater/blower restore:

Before:

Disassembled housing and cleaned throughly. Also gave it a light sanding.

Assembled after paint, and new cadmium hardware. Wrapped the wire tie downs in heat shrink. New foam on the flap.

Finished. Even replaced weathered female electrical connector after cleaning and wet sanding the contacts.

High heat engine enamel, often with a high heat enamel clear coat.

Andrew, unfortunately, this is really after the fact, but have you ever tried Evapo-rust? I had forgotten about it, but Rob told me about it one time last year. I used it this week for the first time, and the results are pretty stunning. It chelates the rust off of items but isn't strong enough to harm the part or anodization. The bolts shown above were rusty enough that I strongly considered throwing them away. Now, they look virtually new. Just a thought in case you have never seen the stuff before…

Yes, I've head good things about it, but never used it.

I wanted to re-plate all of the hardware anyways for this build, so I didn't have much use for something like that this time around.

are you using a sonic cleaner with a solvent of sorts? im tired of wire wheeling bolts.....fml.....

Nope. Bought a vibratory tumbler from harbor freight, and filled it with fine glass bead blasting media. 14 hours was usually enough to get the bolts spotless (except for when paint/grime was pretty built up deep in the bolt heads).
