No Change Holder in 95-97 Dash? Dual airbags offered only in the US? (1 Viewer)

Almost all the Japanese cars since the 70's have a change tray on the dash except for the 80-series. I attributed this to the fact that road/bridge tolls are very common in the rest-of-the-world, before they were a commonplace in the US.

Does the early 80 (90-94 without the passenger side airbag) have a coin tray? Is the dual airbag model only offered in the US?

I have a UK 1994 HDJ80 1HD - T with out passenger air bag and no coin tray as far as I am aware. I think that later modles have an additional air bag.

There are 4 coin holders in the center console. IIRC I have seen an accessory coin tray in a JDM sales brochure from 1994. I think the coin tray took the place of the ash tray.

I use the ash tray for coins. As well built as the 80/LX450 are, they are missing some basic stuff; Decent cup holders including the rear, Coin Holder, Extra cig lighter for acc. An acc plug in the back near the rear door. You can go and add these things and be creative, but the Human Factors Engineer seems to have been asleep. Since I am wining, how come the remote buton for Lock and Unlock is the same. Sometimes I press it twice (accident) and leave it unlocked. I set it to chirp, and it only does it right when I set it.

Other than these small things, I think this is the best vehicle on the orad. I would much rather have a vehicle like this with these issues, then the 99 GMC I had that had all these features.

Do you want features or ability and function?

The 80 was designed before 32 cup holder equipped vehicles appeared on the market.

Sequoias have cup holders out the ass.

This ass will not consider a Sequoia as a mode of transportation.

I agree with you Dan (always agree with the man with your CC #). I said that above, I thought since we were wining about cup holders . . . . I would not trade my 97 LX450 for a new Sequia. Unless it was free and then I'd sell it and buy two 97's

Ken,

If you lock the vehicle with the RS3000 remote, then press the button again to "unlock" it, but don't open a door within 30 (?) seconds, the system will automatically relock and rearm.

Goldbug, does your 94 have a driver's side airbag?

Thats cool. I went out and tried it and sure enough. Normally, you go back and check it right there. What great engineering. I knew if I wined someone would explain. Hey Beowulf, where are the cupholders in the rear hidden, just kidding.

Thanks guys

The LX450 does not have the coin holders.

I think they are offered here, too. Although I think I have seen later 80's w/o (dual) airbags.

...because the center console is different between the LX and the LC.

As Dan mentioned, the 4 slots on the center console of the Land Cruiser fits a bunch of quarters -- I forget how many.

All my change goes in the ash tray anyhow.

It's safer that way so a stupid thief would not see it and try stealing (small) change out of your truck like he did with my wife's pick-up.
