It's time to finish up NMBDR and we're looking to meet up at a camp spot above Youngsville, NM, on July 19th. I have that day off from work so I'll leave earlier in the day but feel free to show up to the site whenever time allows on Friday. Here's the meetup spot for Friday night, which is around 2.5 hours from Abq.

We'll start on NMBDR sat morning then finish it up at San Antonito, CO by Sunday then head home.

Please post up if you want to join us.

I’m thinking that I’d like to go on this one. Just have to get my radio programmed and figure out how to use a gps and find coordinates. And where to find diesel. I’m a newbie at this kind of stuff. But it does look like it’s easy to find.

I was just looking at the map and it looks like you’ll most likely do the expert track which you’ll have to advise me on, but would doubt that the van would be suitable for that.

Actually from what I understand it’s not passable by a full size 4x4 vehicle, the trail is too skinny and sized for quads/motos. @sl33p3 can speak to it.

I think the van could do all of the BDR, even the hardest part in Chloride. I haven’t done the Cuba to Grants but wouldn’t expect anything much different from the rest.

Can't make this one, my wife's birthday is 7/21, Sunday, and we have plans for the weekend. Have a good time. Looking forward to pictures.

Then I’m most likely, very probably coming, just need to make sure my wife doesn’t have something planned that I don’t know about.

yeah expert section in anything more than quad would be miserable to impossible. I've only done it once now on the bike, so i'm no expert... see what i did there?

I’m a “you bet I’m coming!”

If she REALLY loves you, she'd totally let you go play with your homies. I mean come on, there are lots of bdays coming up so you're good.

Oh yeah, I'm divorced :flipoff2:

Good feedback John, thanks.

Sure, that's how it works.....
My wife has supported my FZJ 80 addiction :wrench: . I had better not push any invisible limits. We will both go on one of these overnighters someday. Oh, yeah, I have had one divorce :flush: , that was enough...
Have a good enough time for both of us. :steer:

Thanks for planning this Ali! Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known Malary had made a bunch of plans for us next weekend. :bang:

Wife's B day plans have changed to weekdays the following week, so I am going with you guys. My first time camping out of my 80. But, I have some plans. I would like to follow Ali up early on Friday. Thanks for putting this together. :steer::D

Is there a need to carry extra gas for this section of the NMBDR?

I looked at the map, and I don't think so. If you fuel up in Cuba you should be able to hit Antonito. Distance is no more than 150miles, guessing.

Abiquiu has Gas , so we could top off there on Sat morning. also. I can meet up with anyone going up on Friday, if they want to travel together, otherwise I can find the campsite.

I'm still working on the logistics on my end but the campsite is an easy find, about a 10 min drive from the asphalt.
