Hi Everyone,

I've been talking with some folks about gear quality and wanted see what y'all thought about different gear vendors. What manufacture do y'all provides a higher quality of gears?

Thank you.

I've been dealing with Nitro from about 2 years or so .. not a single problem with 'em yet .. on top of that, great customer service from Carl ..

I had Yukons in my 4runner for about 20k kms, the rear ring gear had a very strange almost flaky paten on the face when I pulled it to install an ARB. My gear guy said it looked like a flaw in the gear (I did break them in correctly). I ended up replacing with Nitro gears and had no issues in 10k kms, the new owner has over 40k kms on it now and no issues at all.

Not going to say one is better than the other just my experiences.

I plan to get Nitro gears for my 80 when its time.

i got yukons 4.88 in mine for three years now with no issues

What is the warranty on both of the nitro and yukons?

Gears

I'm obviously biased but there is a reason we sell Thousands, not dozens of Nitro gears for toyota applications. We know toyota, Nitro caters to toyota.

I recently ended up in this conversation with my friend about this subject. He sets up tons of diffs. His observation is that the nitro gears are all around better quality. They are held to tighter tolerances and have a much nicer finish.

Nitro Gears, I have set up a few diffs and the Nitro's are better. Have seen the flaking issue in 3 diffs with Yukon gears. Two I set up after over a year of use and a lot of highway the gears just started to flake one day. A third was not set up by me and started flaking as well.

So get the Nitro gears. I will be getting some in the near future for my projects.

Nitro 5.29's in my mini. 3 years, several stock birfs, a rear driveshaft, and a couple of knuckle studs with no problem.
