I think that it is a decent deal. It really depends on what you want.....a cruiser that has the Chevy swap/auto tranny can be a nice thing if that is what you want. If the swap was done right, he probably put about that much time/effort/$$$ in just the swap. Looks like the tires are in good shape and the power steering and disc brakes are definite upgrades. The front shackle reversal is an upgrade for some (more trail use), downgrade for others (more road use). The only thing that I can think might be an issue is cooling the v8. Just make sure that he's addressed this and/or do a search on it here to find out more.

Like Wes said, the diamond plates are probably rust covers. Just make sure that the frame isn't rusty. Other common rust areas are the front fenders, the running boards and the rear seal (looks like the PO has replaced it and the rear bumper).

All in all, you could find a cheaper cruiser, but you might have to shell out some funds to get it in the condition of this one. Finding one that already has a lot of the mods done and is in good shape can be a definite plus.

I don't know if I would call that a great price. I agree you will probably find rust under the diamond plate. Also those seats probably won't be comfortable. Personally I would probably keep looking. How many 40's have you gone to look at?

Thats almost 50% daimond plate!. Be careful, you might have an unsound rusted POS!

I just noticed it looks like a metal tech cage with the front profile. I would say that the cage is worth around $1,000 with all the parts and labor.

4wheel disk is a nice feature also. Putting my rear disk on myself cost me about $400.

Check the Frame for bad rust and If that is all the stuff you wanted, go for it.

The only thing I don't like about it is the diamond plate and the seats.

With the list of options this thing comes with I think it is a good value. If it is in your budget and you like the rig then buy it. If you found a clean stock FJ40 and built it the way this one is you would have more than $8,500 in it.

Diamond plate and carpet can hide a lot of rust. A little rust is normal but some people use diamond plate in place of body panels.

This rig I just bought with "Usual Cruiser Rust". It had diamond plating on the outside and carpet on the inside.

I think it could be a pretty nice rig. Where is Pine Junction? If your not in a major rust belt, the sheet metal behind the diamond plate could be in excellent shape. I have a cousin that belonged to a heep club in Washington. Every rig in the club had diamond plate. They put it on because they would bounce their rigs off trees. It was an armor issue, not so much cosmetic. As the above posted, to start out with even a reasonable shape truck and do those mods, you would have way more then the price of this vehicle. I would go for it if it drives and stops well. A small amount of rust wouldn't stop me. Of course I would have to think about it if it had the extra ventilation hole in the floor. :grinpimp:

Thank you all for the replies! Pine Junction is in Colorado by the way sorry about that it was too early in the morning when I was filling out my profile. As far as the diamond plate yeah I noticed that too and rust would be my first question when I talk to the guy. what I am trying to accomplish is to buy a 40 that has the most mods/upgrades already done to it. Trying to save some with someone else having done the work on it so my $$$ can go that much further with it. I know there are those who hate the V8 thing but that is one of the thing I happen to like about this one. Of course I will have to find out many things like who did the conversion, how it is cooled and such. EDIT: just called the guy and like a typical person from craigslist he already sold it and didn't bother to pull the add!

I did find another one on colorado4x4.org and it is probably nicer rig than this but the two negatives for me on it is it's up in the 12k range and also has a 1F engine in it. Could someone enlighten me on the 1F engine how powerful are they?

I think the yellow one is over priced. I would stick with the red or silver one.

I was kind of thing the same thing on the yellow one but maybe I could talk him into 10K? The red one is sold and well the silver is 18K! Yeah it's real nice but that is too much $$$ for what I want to do with it anyway.

This one sounds good

There seems to be plenty of cruisers in Colorado, just be patient and you'll find a keeper.

Thank you very much for the leads! The first one is way cool but 20K out of my price range :crybaby:

The second one is much like what I am looking for I'll have to check on that one!!!

Third one is too stock for m liking it would take too long to get it where I want it.

I agree with you and the one thing I can afford the most to to wait to find the right one. Your input is greatly appreciated!!!

Only problem with that site is there are only a couple of ads total that are recent. I bet you will find a lot have sold or are no longer for sale. Check your local want ads. Find a local club and keep an ear out. If I were to do it again that would be the way to do it. Also if you see something local on ebay you could check it out but I don't think that it will be the best way to find a deal. There always seem to be ads in the Colorado area. Just take your time it will be worth it when you find the perfect cruiser.

Good luck and by the way I don't know if anyone has given you the offical Mud wecome yet but here goes.
