Haha I want to see it in action too!! Not much wheeling going on right now. Unless your into shear ice challenges. Should all be melted by the end of the month....I hope. OH, and Phil thanks for the weather link...rub it in some more. We are lucky for a weather cast like that in the summer.

Here is an updated pic. I picked up some 37x12.5x17 BFG Krawler blues on TrailRated Beadlock aluminum. 5.29 gears and Longfield superset is in the mail on its way. But I have to say it's still not that bad on the backroads if you drive it right with the manual shift.

Tires & wheels look great:cool:

Scott... can you post some pics of how the rear cross bar goes on and off?
Have you banged the bars any out in the woods to get a sense of how much deflection really happens?

I will . I have hit the bars very hard . Also had the truck wedged on trees. With the cross bar there is little to no deflection.

Sweet! I have sketches of almost the exact same rear cross bar... I was pondering ways to make it sturdy yet easily removable in order to be able to open the rear tailgate.

Mark, I bend the tube to contour the rear gate. Then found tube that fit over the 1 3/4" tube. So one end i have a full piece welded on the cross bar that slips over the quarter section. Then on the driver side I cut the same tube that fit over the 1 3/4 in half or a little more that half. Then drilled a 3/8" hole through both. I use a hitch pin. Easy on and off. Has been a solid design so far.

Thanks Mark. I appreciate the compliment. I'm glad its in the past. Ha. I did have fun though. I can't lie. I'm a garage/build/fix anything junky.

Very impressed, looks fantastic. Like you said, it's very hard to tell it's even there from a straight side shot.
Thanks for adding to my todo list!

Just got a like on this after 2.5 years of usage. I have hammered all these bars repeatedly. It takes a beating. Still nice and straight.

I just bought a tube bender also and I have been looking for inspiration to build some body protection for my 80. Your stuff looks good!
