This is a bit too heavy to go regular FedEx, it may get dragged around and damaged. ( I have seen it all!)
This would be strapped to a pallet, and shipped via Freight, it runs around $250.00

Some things are discontinued unfortunately.

So your saying if your doing a swap from a four speed you can't get the shifter to make this work? I thought a shifter was included? These use a H55F shifter only correct? Is there a different part # that includes the shifter with the transmission? What's the story with the oiler. I thought after a certain date the transfer cases were set up to run the five speed? It's disappointing to hear items are becoming NLA.


Because I am really interested in using a five speed on a future project I checked with a dealer and was assured all the parts are still available. That good news. While this is a good price because I'm still in the parts collecting stage I'm not ready to spend the money on a transmission and put it on a shelf until I need it.

please read the ad, it is for the transmission. they are never sold with levers or fitting kits. questions should be taken to tech or chat. if you learn to use the search function, you can find all part numbers needed for the conversion. You can then ask John if he can source parts.

a shift lever (insulated) is readily available new in both right and left hand drive tilts. The non insulated (solid rod) 40 series is no longer available. The most common lever is 70 series (1985-1998 models)-they are cheap used or can be sourced new-do a search. All h55 shifters fit.

the oiler cups are $2 and weigh 1 oz.

tcase gasket sets are available from toyota or aftermarket from shops like cruiseroutfitters, georg, steve cramer, mudrak, or cruiserparts.

If you can't find what you need from the search function go to a forum.

and unless you are blind, this has a J60/J70 top plate which can fit any J40 with internal gas tank. It is slightly back for the '79-'84 tunnel- those J40 top plates are discontinued, the transmission with that top plate is discontinued, they can only be found used and cost (2015) greater than $500 US for some unknown reason.
