Hi just thought I would introduce my self to the community. Started my fist rebuild on 73 fj40 partial fram off. Love toyota prouducts, had a lifted 86 4runner in the past just keep coming back to toyota for off road capabilties and pure cool factor. Looking to do 350 swap do to familiarty I have with 350's and the availbilty of parts.

TLC: Tranny/ TC Identification

Im out in Battle Ground, WA , yeah I do need pics up. Question how do ID the year of production for my tranmission transfer case, I bought it off a guy that said it was 70's, its a 4 speed and it looks like the transfer case is vacume controlled? I'll shoot some pix ta'mara. I'm also gunna need to sell this 1f motor or trade it for sumin'

nope thats a 99 mitsubishi eclipse show car and on the two post lift above it is 86 corolla gts drift car project, and behind the motor is my 04 hemi dodge ram pickup, also have a friends datsun 510 project too. Hers a pic of it at a rod and custom show in 03 where it took 3rd in the import section of the show (also befor I switch to 19inch evo rims ) and as a side note this is not me wear a honda shirt (yuk!!!)

PTO Versus Electric What your opion

Question are the PTO wiches worth the time to track down the parts to for use in a trail application. I've heard that their really powerful, but I've also had a couple of people tell me their slightly more dangerous do to the fact that the winch being driven off the eng. which has higher intial torque and so its possible to snap a wire rope quicker (not that electric or hydl. winch are inharently safe or anything) Besides the PTO will only work if the rig is running so wouldn't electric be a better choice for off road or ?? or is this just a matter of personal preference..
So tell me whatcha' think for off road performance Electric or PTO.

I'd recommend the electric over pto because if you're upside down and on fire, you can't use the pto to get you righted and on the trail again.

That's a nice eclipse. I've got a buddy who has one that he gets over 400 hp from but the cool part is the t-top conversion he did on it. He works at a body shop and it came out perfect. It looks like a factory job.
