Yeah, thats what we did when checking the 40 axle. The sixty had a sticky drum and only one side was turning.

Since the tub is bolted to the van I grabbed the seat brackets, ds seat, gas tank and straps to test fit. The new tub didnt come with the tabs the front straps hook to so I have to figure out where the old ones I saved go. It also seems that this tub had different mounting arrangement for the rear seat brackets as none of the factory holes line up with the brackets I have so I have to figure somethin out for that. The front seat brackets do work and I used the one hole on the ps floor that was still in the tub as a starting point.

Since initially driving the 40 I had come to the realization it was designed for drivers well under 4' tall. I looked at the old tub before hacking it to bits and saw that the rear seat brackets can be flipped 180 so they point towards the rear which moves the seat back roughly another 1.5". Cutting a little off of the back (the front) of the ds bracket (the one closest to the wheel well on the ds) allows you to get another 1/2".

After staring at b the brackets for way too long I rebuilt one of the front brackets that was rotten at the bottom. I cut and pasted a piece of angle to it and it turned out stout. I also sunk a nut into the floor that will be welded in place for the other seat bracket to bolt to (the one that goes from ps to ds over the tranny hump).

Got the rear leaf mounts all welded in with Randys help. Turned out straight for the most part to boot. New suspension plan evolved during some creative down time, its a secret though until I get the parts lined up.

Patched up the tub a little and capped the cross member I cut. PS side seat bracket is tacked on and I made up a gas tank strap bracket. Still more to go. Sam stopped by and helped me haul it back onto the van so I got to see what has to be cut. Marked it out some squares and called it a night.

Sunk a 2x2 square tube into the tub at corner of the cargo area. PO patched it but I wasnt happy with it and figured I could make it sturdier. Still have to do the other side.

Then I dicked around with rear bumper ideas and came up with this..... Recycled my old 80 series tire carrier, still have to pretty it up and cap a bunch of crap. It may stay if I still like it tomorrow.

So...... the guy I got the front suspension pcs from offered me a turbo.... for free and only if I used it. Lol. Its a "td04"? from an srt4 neon/dart or something similar (Im no turbo expert). Was taken out at the dealer at 17k as part of a parts swapping trouble shoot, was in mint shape but was replaced anyways. My buddy got to take it home.

Since its free Im gonna snag it and see whats what, maybe even try to make it work.

Today I plan to get the brackets/perches cut off the front 60 axle and maybe even start mocking up the radius arms. All else fails I also have to unbolt the rear axle from the leafs and start cutting off junk on that one so its ready for the soa ruff stuff pcs that will hopefully arrive early this week.....

I need at least two full time employees..... or more accurately volunteers.

D

Used the plasma to cut off the leaf perches/ubolt perches/sway bar brackets on the 60 front axle then tried to rough out the radius arms. Pete came over and we did a side of the axle each which was cool. Some rough measuring later and it looks like its gonna be tight like a mofo to fit everything under there. Gonna do some more measurin tomorrow.

Got the rear soa'd today, still have to tack the new perches on and cut off the old ones under the axle but its all bolted together. Have to decide where to point the pinion and how I want the shackles to sit (very relaxed now but the mounts are just tacked) then I can weld everything up.

Also knocked out the seat extension for the ds seat... Thats it, the firewall is back upstairs and the tub is off yet again.

I bet you're gonna want to move the shackles back a couple inches. I'm interested to see how the radius arms work out in the front. Keep up the good work!

Nick

Yeah, the shackle mounts are just tacked for now, I plan to move them back a little once everything is set up. Im also interested to see if the coils and arms will actually fit. Did some measurin and its gonna be tight if it fits at all..

That setup worked really well on my buddies dodge "doomraider" if that means anything..

And..... Everything might just fit and or work with some minor tweaking. Peetie and Randall came by and gave me a hand today. We got the 40 axle out, the perches/shock mounts cut off, and the 60 axle/radius arms/coils/buskets mocked up. Looks like a go.

Thanks man. It aint together yet tho. I have to start grinding the little wedges that weld to the axle to get them fitting nice, then I can bolt the radius arms back on and decide on pinion angles and whatnot. And on and on and on lol.

I was super pumped last night when we got everything mocked up. Had it in my head all last week that the coils wouldnt work because the ps box would be in the way and Id have to blow the budget on coil overs. It just shows that you can measure all you want but in the end your numbers have to be correct...

Have to take a break for the next couple days and put in my time at work. Its sad when you look forward to going to work and relaxing....
