Love the older bibs. What is written on it?

Digging the tube work, btw.

Lol. Thats a note to myself. Measured and marked the cut lines the other morning after a 12 hr night shift..... on the passenger side of the apron. My buddy comes over the other day and notices then proceeds to make fun of me. I wrote "other side retard" on it just so I wouldnt end up cutting it there anyways.

Might mess around today and mock up a winch plate of some sort and then try to figure out how to plate and sleeve the inside of the frame at the steering box. Its right at the damn cross member and its gonna be a pain. I might just tack on some channel so the frame doesnt spread, cut the cross member on the ds, plate/sleeve the inside frame rail, then weld the cross member to that... Maybe something else will come to me.

I'm very interested in your idea for a tailgate as I'm going soft top soon. Subscribed.

Yeah, need to sort that tailgate idea out eventually.

Cleaned up the apron today while Randall made a template for the frame side trac bar mount. I then found a screwed up piece of "square" 1/4" tube (part of my old tacoma skid plate) that was perfect and proceeded to cut it up. Turned out cool lookin. The mount on the other side is gonna be fun but we have a plan....

That is what I thought it said! LOL. I've written similar notes to myself, good to know I'm not alone.

I'm also looking forward to seeing the tailgate build. That could be a very nice alternative to the OEM tailgate. What are the measurements for the gate?

Havent gotten that far yet... Roughly 14" tall by somethin wide.

D

Yep.

Effed around a bit. Got the inside of the frame rails boxed with 1/4" in the front and sleeved for the ps box. New bolts/nuts for the box, boxing and gusseting of the x member I had to cut to plate the frame. Threw together a quick winch plate that still needs a little something..

Looks like that bad guys jaw in Tango & Cash.....

Might make some recovery points to jigsaw into it today if I find the time.

Lieutenant Dan: What's wrong with your lip?
Bubba: I was born with big gums, sir.
Lieutenant Dan: Well, you better tuck that in. Gonna get that caught on a trip wire.

lol.

Got the tub and firewall sitting on the frame to figure stuff out and threw together some tow points for the front.

Im thinking of trying to use the whole 60 column.... Id end up with tilt and a human sized steering wheel. Took some rough measurements and it looks like it could work, have to look at it a little closer though.

Also have to figure out the axle side panhard mount in the front, thats kickin my ass.

Some pics.

Bunch of parts came in. Got a man a fre 6 into 1 header from Johnny (GLTHFJ60) and the double crank/wp pulleys form Myquestyota for the ps swap. Thanks guys. Intake/exhaust gasket should be in monday.

Been dicking around with the tranny tunnel and fuel filler dealie the last day or two.

Got the tunnel fitted with a 40 series plate and 60 series shift boots. The boots from the donor were mint so I had to use em since the original 40 ones were dead, couple few holes/cuts later and they bolt right in. Used some left over "jacknuts" to hold everything together.

Also got the tunnel itself cleaned up. Steel was thin and po had built up plenty of booger while welding holes up. I contributed my boogers and scabbed in some new steel here and there. She bolts in now (roughly, tub/firewall arent lined up 100% but close) and looks half decent.

Cut a hole in the tub for the fuel filler and got it bolted on... Yeah bolted. I didnt feel like spot welding it to the inside of the tub since I remembered what a huge pain it was to take it off then try to straighten it back out. Slid the filler in from the outside of the tub after cleaning it up and welding some washers around the perimeter. Bolted it in w ss hardware. Note: the 5 bolts that hold the filler to the tub will be replaced w countersunk allen heads as soon as I get some. Hopefully they will help it look a little less obnoxious lol. There will be a gasket between the filler lip and tub as well.

Might go bastardize somethin else today...

Bunch of crap off the list. Got the ps fender kinda lined up and cut out around the shock hoop and coil bucket, gonna need a little more work to get the inner fender put back together but its on its way.

Finally made up the axle side trac bar mount with Randys help and it turned out pretty decent. We cut 4" off of the trac bar then made up a cool little bracket thing out of 1/4". We also moved the frame side mount in a bit since it would have hit the coil when flexed. Nothing binds when flexed and best of all there is no bump steer apparent at all. We bounced the s*** out of it and you could not feel a thing through the steering box input. Bonus!
