Thanks for the contribution. Once I read your post I had to find me some pt seats. It took me some searching before I finally found the ones I wanted but it was worth it. I was looking for, and really wanted black or gray leather to some what match my interior. Instead I found black and gray leather out of a 2005 Platinum PT Cruiser, I guess if you seach long enough you can find the best of both worlds. Installion was a breeze, just like you said. The best part though is how much nicer the ride is when you have a seat with some cushion. Thanks Again!

PS- My wife loves that she now longer has to dig around between the seat and console to buckle her seat belt. The seat belt fit right in the plastic molding on the side of the pt seat.

It looks like your seats are power. Is it one connection for everything or multiple 12V connections?

Not sure if his are the same as mine but mine have a single 12v connection but all it does is raise and lower the driver seat.

I know the driver side has two, I believe one it to raise and lower the seat and the other is for the heated seat. I'm not certain about the passanger side but I think it only has one for the heated seat.

Those PT seats look great. I found some leather volvo seats cheap $30ea. at my local scrap yard. There was a good bit of fabrication to make them work. At 6'3" I still feel like I am sitting too high. The PT seats look like they mount lower ? I might have to keep an eye out for some.

More tips that might help

Thanks Mildot, you made this mod a whole lot easier!

Here's a few things I learned while doing this;

1) The PT cruisers seat belt buckle that came with the seat was not going to work with my original FJ62 seat belts. Not that big of an issue, just replace the original ones into the PT seat. You'll want to do this BEFORE you put the seat into your LC. If not you'll more then likely have to take out the center console to work on them.

2) For those that don't like the look of the big PT headrest, reuse the ones that are on your original seat. I did this and they look great!

3) I put velcro loop on the back of the passenger seat. Looks better then the plastic and it will come in handy at some point.

Glad I could contribute and as for number 1 I found this out later. I was in a hurry and left them thinking I could just take them off later well the driver side I was able to remove later but the passenger side is still attached. I like the confused look people get when they get in for the first time!

Not sure all the years it's likely you could look up when they changed body style and any with the same style will likely fit.

I think after 2005 they stopped having the arm rest. Originally I was looking at newer models but couldn't find any with that option.

Maybe I missed this but what did you do with you back seat. From what I can see it is not stock and I am still looking for an option for the back.

too tall?

The PT seats look very nice and I appreciate your post/instructions/pictures.
My question...I'm 6'2". Are the PT seats higher than the stock 60 seats?
Thanks.

PT seats with the LC brackets seamed slightly higher but that could be just that the foam was not broke down. I am also 6'2" and the PT seats work well for me but you will sit higher then stock.

great deal

I just priced PT cruiser seats at some salvage yards in GA, prices range from $300 to $750 depending on options and material.

I think most of us that have done this have found them on Craigslist or similar classifieds. I paid $50 for the pair. The salvage yards likely are going to ask way more.

I checked Craig's list and didn't find any. I'll need new/different seats eventually, my drivers side is worn and torn.

Still stock, I just have a seat cover on them. Got a whole set off Amazon for $40, universal fit. They are supposed to look like fake leather, not even close, but they do match, and don't look half bad.

Mine added an inch or so of height. What bothers me more is how far back it won't slide. I find that at all the way back, it's still not enough. I don't like having my legs bent all the time, however I don't have the option to slide back and stretch them. The stock seats didn't really go back far enough either. It's still definitely more comfortable and worth it. I paid $150 for an entire leather set off craigslist (guy wouldn't just sell me the fronts). Over $300 seems like a lot unless they were brand new leather. I tried the salvage yard, but it creeped me out. The PT's I saw were in pretty bad shape. I didn't want to know what the stains were and I definitely wasn't going to clean them.

That back seat looks good to me. Do you happen to have a link to the one you got? ....Off searching amazon!

They've gone up in price, $50 now. Not sure if just the back seat is worth that. It has held up for over a year, but it's still pretty cheaply made. It doesn't cover the back of the seat completely. Here's a quick shot of the back, I can get a better one in the morning if you want.
