Hey all,

This is an unofficial introduction, as I have just purchased a 1965 fj45 swb from Oregon, due to arrive next week sometime. I am very excited, as I have been looking for a while for an old cruiser in this condition. It does have an old chevy 250 6 cyl. engine in it. It also is being shipped with a 1984 2F motor from a 60 series. Does anyone have any experience with the chevy 250 engine? At some point in the future, once I gather info and a couple of my cruiser buddies here in town, we will be swapping the 2F in, but for now, I will just enjoy the truck, which has minimal frame and interior floor pan rust.

Anyhow, that's it, and I am looking forward to registering in this subforum and learning the ins and outs of these fine vehicles...

cheers!

Thanks, I am stoked. There are some amazing cruisers on this board, and equally amazing is people's dedication to preserving them...

fixed top or removable? Welcome

I cannot give an "official" welcome, as there are no pictures of this "alleged" 45 purchase.

So, unofficially, WELCOME.

Thanks, everyone. Left Oregon today, and here is an attempt to upload some photos... it is a swb, 1965.

cheers!

Joel

Oh, yeah, removable top!

Congats that looks killer, but you should stop taking the native wildlife out of my state! Oregon still needed that one.

Thanks, you have to know it's killing me not being here yet. I was not in the market until I saw it. I figured if I ever was to get a 45, this one is the one to have. Got it for $8k with the 2F. Deal? Even if it was too high, I don't care. It has minimal rust. Here is a shot of the floorboard...

$8k!!!! That sucks that you got scammed like that. Sometimes humanity is mean like that. I, however, am a decent person. I will take that heap off your shoulders for $8k, so you don't get burned!

Oh, and officially welcome. Thanks for the eye candy.

Ok, thanks! And 2F power, since it's in your sig line, what do you make of the current engine in the 45 that I am about to experience? 250 chevy vs. 2F, of which I have being shipped with the truck. Swap?

I would swap in a Toyota engine. There is something about a semi - stock rig. Depends on what you are doing though.

Although my name is a little old, as I will have a 3FE in my DD. If it were mine, I would throw on 4 wheel disk brakes, 3fe, saginaw, some tall skinnies.

I have a 2F coming with the truck, so it would have to be that engine. Need a different tranny prob from the 3 speed. It already has front disk brakes. No power steering, that's down the road. What size tire is the tall skinny for a 15" rim? I would prob replace the springs with OME before I got new tires...
