Hello all! I tried searching around quickly (this forum and elsewhere) and found discussion and videos on the parts I discuss below but wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything.

I just recently purchased a ‘95 HZJ77 and am absolutely over the moon. I try to keep normal maintenance items/wear items stocked up in my garage for all of my vehicles. I was planning to pick up engine air filters, oil filters, and fuel filters. Should I stock anything else? Also, feel free to share and wisdom on the platform as I’m here to learn! It’s my first diesel and first import.

Pic of the HZJ (in need of lots of body work love haha):

Will do! Thank you so much for the link, I’ll read through it all shortly and will continue to try to soak up as much knowledge from you all as possible.

You need to find out about the last timing belt change. The 1HZ is an interference engine and if the belt breaks it's toast. Every 100k kms. You can do it yourself but if you have no idea about when it was changed, then I'd do that first, after baselining all oils/fluids/coolant/belts/hoses. Don't forget brake fluid flush. Just use search and get hip to the OTRAM videos on youtube, although he doesn't do diesels (pretty sure on that?) the rest of his tech videos (brakes, knuckles, etc.) are top drawer.

Also, you'll be amazed at how many parts you can get new from Toyota, delivered to your local dealer. Not everything but still a lot. Find the part numbers and call the parts desk and ask. Don't assume you have to order everything from overseas - between the dealer and the top notch parts places like Cruiser Outfitters and Terrain Tamer (through Georg at Valley Hybrids) there isn't very much you can't get stateside.
