So, seems the head gasket is blown as I have a misfire, and gas in the radiator. Questions...
1) What is the approximate cost of machining/rebuilding the original head with Toyota parts vs buying a new, complete head? I'm in Los Angeles, if that matters.
2) What are the highest-quality/most reliable/most durable head components to use if NOT using Toyota parts?
3) Assuming the bottom end is in the kind of shape most of these seem to be in at ~240k (pretty damned good, that is)--to what extent can I expect a new/rebuilt head to "refresh" engine performance and reliability? In other words--again assuming a lower end in good shape--how does comprehensive head work compare with a full rebuild? And how might the old lower end degrade the fresh head?
4) What else should I be looking at / doing / replacing with the head off?
