Welcome bud. Lots of info here on making a well calculated purchase. Beyond finding a good mechanical condish truck, i'd look out for the darn rust that is known to eat these things up. Good luck!

Thx man for the warm and fuzzy. I've been trolling and I like what I see so far. And yes sir on the rust buckets.

If you haven't already, check out the FAQ sticky at the top of the 60 Tech page. For me, to sum up the difference between a stock drivetrain 60/62 is whether or not you want a manual tranny or not :meh:

Cool thx for the info. I'll give it a eye or two.

Welcome and my question is, 60 or 62?

Man I'm as lost as I was when I started reading about them yrs ago. My uncle had a 60. Nothing beats the look of a 60. My goal is a bowtie v8 in a 60. Your thoughts? I can't get to carried away at first cause I just built a Bowfishing boat and spent 4k on a 1911 and my ol lady is still red a$$ed

60's - guys like the more retro front end round headlights and the manual transmissions. Especially if you throw a five speed in. Most also prefer the manual windows and door locks.

62's - guys like the fuel injection. Few like the automatic transmission but with some work, you can drop a manual in and lose the a/t. The square headlights can also be swapped for round. Then you can change the broken electric windows and locks for manual and then...

Screw it, just buy a 60 man! Buy an model year 85 or newer for an easier five speed swap.

I like the way you think. Great minds think alike. Ha. Thx man for the input.

It was rough around here for 2-3 mons. As I always say it's so much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission..

When I first got my 60, I noticed a lot of noise, almost a high pitched whine coming from the passenger side cabin. It seemed to go away after a divorce though.

Man I thought I seen one in my future. I thought I'd cheer her (the devil) up by putting a switch in my boat I decaded to her with a striper on it that says this turns something on. As usual she didn't see any humor in it.

Alright, we better start talking about Cruisers or we'll have a million woman march in protest of this forum.

Which way are you leaning man, the 60 or the 62?
I think a 60 for sure. I like the none power options and the thoughts of a 5 speed manual transmission. Where can I find the conversion kits to mount up a bowtie V8? One more question, if I convert it to a V8 with 5 speed manual I can use the factory t-case? I've been trying to take all this info in it's kinda overwhelming but this is only night one. Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it.

Welcome. Yes, you keep your transfer case. It is attached to your transmission only so it cares not what engine you run. Plenty of V8 adapters out for our 4spd or 5spd transmissions. I just put the H55f (Toyota 5spd) in my 60 and can tell you it has made a world of difference in daily driveability.

Boys!
Coming from a female here in the forum, the 60's are the best. I much prefer controlling my vehicles via a manual stick to a boring automatic transmission shifter.
