Hello! While I am a first time FJ40 owner, I spent a lot of time working on and running around in a friends 1974 FJ40 back in the mid 80's. I just bought a basketcase 75 FJ40. It is titled as a 1975, door tag says 1975 however, it has front disc brakes and appears it came that way from Japan. Right now it sits pretty much unmodified with the exception of longer shackles and 31x10.5x15 tires and aftermarket wheels on it. I plan on doing a slow restification on it. Rebuild 2F engine with performance/fuel economy in mind. Headers, ported head with larger valves, mild cam. I have a set of BFG AT 33x12.50x15s with only 500 miles on them (my F150 didn't like them) so I guess I will have to use them for this project.
Anyway, I just wanted to check in and introduce myself.

9/75 went to front disks. I have owned two 8/75's and both had front drums.

Welcome to MUD. 33's and a 2F will be a really fuel efficient combo:frown:. My F.5 and 33x9.5x15's get all of about 12 mpg, I guess what I'm trying to say is drive it for the fun, not economy. Post some pics.

Build date of 11/75, emissions sticker for 1976, title registers it as a 75.

I should have clarified that I will try to build it to get as good fuel economy as possible with a carbed 2F. I know that the 33x12.50s will definitely will not help but they are what I have (unless somebody wants to trade). Here are some photos of my new basketcase.

Nice but I think some bodywork might need attention before the headers.

I like the color, is it supposed to be matt or just faded? I would have liked a matt finish in a dark color on mine but the PO did a nice job and used a fancy metalic blue that is too good to do over.
