Where dod you get the mass loaded vinyl? Do you think it will hold up to the trans tunnel heat?

Spent some time at Chena Hot Springs when I was tour guiding for Suntrek, we stopped at another hot spring just north of Fairbanks, not far outa town, had big tiled pool, so nice when you've been tent camping for weeks. My favorite was a place along the Alcan, middle of no where, you park at a turn out and hike a wood plank walk out thru vernal pools with fish in em and after awhile a total Oasis all developed with restrooms and pools, crazy sick like being in HI or something. Memories, thank you for posting that pic awhile ago, I just read the thread.
That’s slick. I’m assuming your ran a fused dedicated line from the battery? Any parasitic draw issues afterwards?

So far so good. I popped my head under there the other day and the MLV looked fine. No heat warp or wear. Looked brand new and hasn't sagged. The FJ40 has spent the majority of the winter outside so the velcro and glue have had the extreme temps to deal with as well and it still looks great.
I used Dorman seat heater kits. They come with relays and all. No draw afterward.

My fan stopped working on low speed and so after some Internet investigation I discovered that the culprit was the resistor mounted on top of the fan box. I ordered a modern day equivalent of the original resistor and mounted it up. Had to make the modifications to the mount you see in the photos. My fan now works on low and high speed. Good as new
Do you have picture of your trailer build? I just picked this one up and I'm looking for ideas/ inspiration.Removed the ball hitch from my rear bumper and replaced it with a CCOT hitch @Green Bean sent me. Had to grind down one corner of the hitch in order for my spare tire rack latch to pass, but it was an easy modification to make with my angle grinder.
The paint on the CCOT hitch was garbage. Must have been cheaply rattle canned from the manufacturer, and it was flaking off in huge pieces. I scraped as much of it off as I could and then coated everything with POR15.
Now I can use a pintle hitch and tow my overlanding M416 military build trailer

This is what I've got. Sadly I purchased it down in the lower 48 states and so Ive yet to haul it up here to Alaska and use it.

One of my exhaust gaskets blew out and I had to dig into that. While I was in there fixing that, I noticed the PO's fix to the seal between the intake and exhaust manifolds had also failed and so I ended up installing a new block off plate as well. The install for the block off plate was easy and id recommend it if anybody needs to do it.
And the hits keep coming... I also noticed my exhaust manifold has cracked where the stud is and had been causing a leak in my exhaust. I tried a few ways to fix this and keep the stud in place and ultimately had to do an ugly job of brazing the stud directly to the cast iron manifold. It's held up pretty well since this repair with no loosening or leaking from this location

Whilst pulling the manifolds on and off a few times I managed to strip out one of my studs. I made a new one from a spare bolt I had lying around and later realized my local hardware store stocks metric manifold studs. Oh well. Only spent 30 mins making myself a stud to save $1.50

After installing the block off spacer/seal between my manifolds they no longer lined up well and I couldn't reinstall them to the head. I ended up taking them both to my mill and opening up the bolt holes to get them to slide onto the studs. If it isn't one thing, it's the next thing causing headaches it seems like. Anyways, got them all good to go and bolted back together and reinstalled with a new Felpro head gasket.
The next issue I ran into was that the exhaust holes on the manifold don't line up great with the exhaust manifold gasket holes. The end result is a small exhaust leak with associated chirping sound upon starting up. As the engine warms up it diminishes somewhat, but never goes away entirely. This is my 3rd manifold gasket and Im frustrated I can't get a good seal. I'm suspecting it's because I'm using 1F manifolds on a 2F head. Open to any ideas, but at this point it is what it is.

I'll be driving this down to the States in July. I'm giving it to my father and we will be making the trip together in the FJ40 all the way down to South Dakota from Fairbanks, Alaska.
I've been daily driving the FJ40 to find any last minute bugs, but so far it's doing great. Fingers crossed it continues to run strong for the trip down to SD and for decades to come!
Entered the FJ40 into the local car show over the past weekend. While it didn't win any prizes (not bitter about that at all) it got lots of attention and it was a fun time.
Since this is my last month or so with the FJ40 before my dad takes it, this will be one of the last posts to this build thread.
I'll post some photos of the trip, but after July that'll be about all she wrote for this rig.
