I absolutely love the white Toyota Emblem/Applique on the side. Did it comes stock like this or was that something you added on?

I've never seen that as a stock emblem, but i absolutely like it too! Was thinking something similar on my black, with a grey emblem...

Lines on the bumper are good, now throw the tires back on!

Yeah I have a friend that owns a sign shop in town so I will end up hitting him up for something once I get my cruiser. Reason for asking if it was stock was that he would be able to find the proper dimensions for it much easier than having to do tons of measuring.

The dude that built the van had that stripe painted on. He used the "toyota" on the grille to get the font/size of the lettering and had it done in cyogen?sp? white. I am wanting to continue the theme by laying down some stripes on the ds side of the hood. Kind of like the 80's minis had. Probably never happen though.

I am planning to get the local sticker guy to make me a couple small "zombie apocalypse edition" stickers in tan to stick under the toyota in the stripe. Might be cheeseball but I want to see what itll look like..

I almost put the tires on yesterday but decided to hold off. I might have to mess around flexing the van out in the garage to get the shocks on and Id have no head room if the tires were on.

Soon man, soon.

If you do decide to let them go, put me down for a white or black set.

Will do.

Jiggered up a new fuel filler guard thing today. The old one was rotten to all hell so I used some flat bar and thin plate to copy the old one. Put a hole in the back so maybe this one will drain.

Little update.

While painting under the van I discovered two areas of the frame that were rusty and needed attention. I had to work all week and by the time I got to messing around I thought I was gonna be plating half the frame. I took the pointy end of the welding hammer to the whole inner frame rail and was stoked at what I found. All that was needed was two patches, one on either side, on the inside boxed section above the rear leaf mounts. Roughly 3x8" and 3x6".

Big thanks to Randy for the help. We had to cut off one of the exhaust pipes on the ds and move all the fuel/brake lines away from the frame on the ps to be able to weld and grind. We sectioned a part of a cross member that was in the way as well. Turned out better than good and I incorporated a 1/2" hole laminated with a thick washer at the low part of the frame where everything seems to accumulate as a drain.

Pic before clean up and paint.

Next, I had to be a bumbass like usual. Had some play at my pinion yoke on the rear axle (14 bolt corp), the cups of the u joint could be moved side to side in the py even with the straps tightened. New u joint didnt solve anything so the py was removed. Here comes the dumb part, I put it back on and overtightened it crushing the crush sleeve more and maybe messing up the preload on the pinion bearings. The reason I say maybe is that there originally was some play (in and out) at the pinion and after tightening there is none. I took the pinion assembly out and the bearings seem to spin just fine. No drag/crunching and no play so the preload might still fall within spec (need to find a bearing preload checkermabob, raider rob ya hear?).

If its still good Im tossing it back in when my new pinion yoke (u bolts instead of straps on this one) arrives. If its not within spec I plan to press everything apart, replace the bearings/crush sleeve/seals, and then pop it back in.

So yeah, Ive got a nice big hole in my diff. Still waiting on shocks so it doesnt hurt too bad...

Pinion back in with new bearings, crush sleeve, u joint, and u bolt yoke from high angle.

Thanks, gettin there.

Hoping the shocks are here by end of next week so I can start drivin the damn thing. Might take a stab at shaving that massive lip on the bottom of the 14 bolt rear axle a bit today. Been lookin around on pirate and some dudes have gotten 1" to 1 1/2" extra clearance just by grinding the lip down.

Shaved the 14 bolt today. Gained a little more than half inch and rounded off all of the square edges all nice nice. Should slide a little better now.

Just ask for the PAPP trim package (post apocalyptic preparedness package). Its not available on the FJ loosers but the runners and tacos can still be had with it. Tundras are kinda gay so I doubt they have that as an option.
