Meh, we'll see. So far theres a couple guys that said they want it. One dude came over tonight and took measurements to see how close it would be to fitting his f250. Second in line is a dude with an 80.

I do know a couple people that go to QC fairly often though and Im sure they could drop it off....

Mocked up a winch box tonight, have to wait and see if I like it tomorrow.

Made the winch box out of steel last couple days off. Its all 1/4" so far and all thats really left to do is cut 2 more holes to catch the bottom of the frame and cut out the hole for a fairlead. Im also planning on putting a piece of channel near the back under the winch plate just to add some stiffness.

Big thanks to Derrek, he took the time to take apart and clean my welding helmet and the difference was night and day. Peetie came by and had the coveralls on for a bit as well.

Besides running out of wire everything went better than expected and I like the look of it.

1/4" is the only way to go for a winch plate IMO. The steel is #400 hardened.

Got the recovery points welded on today, cut the last couple holes for bolts , and did some grinding. Peetie was over and he fixed my cb, fished the old antenna cable out, and installed my gas pedal grommet. Good day in the garage.

Heres some pics of my inspiration for this bumper Im hacking together. I like the one on the chopped silver 80 best but with a few tweaks. For some strange reason I like the one on the red 80 too....

Should look good with the round headlights on the sixty

Reeves, I did leave enough room for the d rings. Checked to make sure after welding the rec Pts in LOL.

AK, thanks for the compliment on the welds. I'm just using a Lincoln 180 220v with .35 flux core, no gas. The little plasma is a chiry unit running 220v. All the thick stuff was beveled before welding.

Have to give a bunch of credit to my buddy Derek for cleaning my welding helmet really good. Makes a huge difference when u can actually see what you're doing.!

Ok, Just trying to help... I had a guy bring me a bumper kit to weld up and just put the thing together, per his instructions, to find out later they were too close because he wanted a different style shackle... AFTER POWDER COAT!, OH WELL.. So, I try and help and check the little things that are sometimes overlooked and the most important afterwards.. It's looking great BTW, good job.

Buddy couldnt make it to bend tube due to the 2' of snow that came down friday night so I spent some time prettying it up. Cut the holes to mount the winch, and cut the holes for the fairlead. Threw the roller one on for the hell of it but am planning a hawse and synth rope in the near future. Wont look so funny.

To avoid that twisting when using conventionally mounted rec points I usually throw a tree saver strap between the two shackles and then attach the strap to that. I've never liked pulling/being pulled from one side of the frame only. Made that mistake with my Tacoma on a side pull and ended up with a bent frame horn. Every bumper I've built since then wraps around the frame horns and boxes them in.

Hopefully my buddy with the Bender has time this weekend so I can get this thing wrapped up and move on to something else.

I think I might do something like that for my 80. Plain simple and to the point.

Took off all 4 shocks today to measure for new ones.

The front shocks are 10" travel 5150's and measure 26" eye to eye/16" compressed with a 13" body. They use 9/16 mounting hardware/studs.

The rear shocks are 12" travel 5150's and measure 29 3/4 eye to eye/18" compressed with a 15" body.

The rears are leaking but the fronts are still alright so hopefully I can still sell them.

Havent decided what I want to replace them with yet. Looking at the bilstein 9100 "rock crawler" but am also going to look at fox and saw. Planning on 360/80 valving after searching a bit on mud.

Effed around and drew up a couple more bumpers with different tube work. My buddy Sam might be coming with the bender today so I wanted to have some rough ideas. Of course, its gonna turn out completely different and upside down once we actually start winging it.....

I like the first one best so far if that makes any difference.

After dealing with a frozen hydraulics and an effed up saddle for the bender we managed to crank out some bent tube.

Everybody loves pitchers eh?
