Guys,
I need advice on replacing some hoses on my 1980 FJ40 (3/80) w/2F. (Bare with me...I'm a newbie at this.)

I've had the vehicle for about 4 months and it's always dripped a little bit of anit-freeze. Sometimes these have become more substantial leaks...ie, noticable drips...which I've simply tightened up a clamp here or there which seem to fix them. (I'm realizing that the bumps from the road seem to shake loose things.)

This weekend I heard a loud hissing sound coming from under the hood after going for a long ride. Opening the hood, I saw the #1 Oil Cooler hose had a small leak right where it goes into the waterhouse...and was misting anti-freeze over other parts of the engine compartment.

I was considering replacing all the radiator hoses...just to stop the leaks. But now with this leak, it seems that I should add the oil cooler hoses as well.

Checking SOR, I didn't realize how these hoses add up in price!

So here's my question...

Given my situation, would you guys just replace the hose that's leaking or all of them....oil cooler and radiator hoses? Since I'm down there, is there anything else that is general maintenance stuff that should be done?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Use an old inner tube with a couple of the right size hose clamps in a quick fix situation. Then go to your NAPA store and order the hoses that you need. Trust me on NAPA they are a lot better than the zone or wise or other pop up chains. Most of the time a NAPA clerk will be a lot better of a parts guy , will take the time to cross-reference if a part is not showing on the screen And unlike most of the other parts places that if it doesnt show up on the screen ,you dont need it!

I would bite the bullet and change them all. if one is bad, how do you know the others aren't about to let loose? call CDAN, that's where I got my last set, drain the rad and just start replacing them. I'd use new clamps also.
some of the hoses you can just get bulk hose from Napa, the formed ones I'd get from CDAN.
does the rig have a/c? if so it takes different lower hoses.

I'm going to replace all the radiator hoses on my 2F rebuild project and I'm wondering if I should go with OEM, NAPA, SOR or CCOT hoses? Looking for opinions. Thanks.

When I got my 81, I took it to the dealership and told them to replace every belt and hose, which they did (except for the damn intake hose that I can't find) It cost a fortune but I have peace of mind now.

I did NAPA hoses before I knew about C Dan. A local NAPA might save you some $$$ in shipping, although one of the hoses had to come from the S Carolina warehouse.

I think the complete set was about 40.00 Cheap insurance.

If I remember correctly I bought all the hoses for my 2f from my dealer and it was under 50. Two of the oil cooler hoses ended up being straight pieces. I'd get the formed pieces and then get the heater hose from someone local. I reccomend NAPA for heater hose.
