I've been lurking here for a bit and have come to a decision and would like some further input from you guys. I'm trading my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for either a 2016 LC200...or a 2016 LX570. Here's my dilemma, they're both good deals on clean vehicles with an appropriate trade number. I was dead set on the LC200 and the deal is basically done, have to leave the house at 7am tomorrow, make a 3 hour drive to sign and come home with it. BUT a clean '16 LX570 popped up an hour away and I went to see it today, now my head is spinning.

LC200 - pros: less expensive, better aftermarket support for customization, certified so year of full warranty with 56k of powertrain left, local dealer close for service
cons: second exterior color choice, higher miles, wife not thrilled with the looks

LX570 - pros: mint condition, lower miles, high-end looks, first exterior color choice, wife likes it
cons: more expensive, limited aftermarket support, will be less "off road" since I'll most likely baby it more (being honest)

To elaborate on pricing, the LX570 ends up being 4k more expensive but has half the miles and looks brand new. The LC200 is still very clean and has a great warranty "just in case". I'm so dead locked on this it's ridiculous. To make it worse, wife is on the title and tomorrow is the only day she can make the 6 hour round trip, so I need to choose tonight or risk losing both. I him-hawed around on another LC200 that was only 30 min away, called to pull the trigger and it sold an hour prior to my call. I went and looked at this LC200 I'm planning on getting tomorrow, didn't pull the trigger, sold the next day. Financing fell through a few days later and I got the second chance opportunity.

HELP!

This other thread might help you understand the differences. But it may not help you make a better choice.

That depends on what you want out of the vehicle. I don't think you can make a wrong choice here. They are variations of the same damn great car. Win win.

If you intend to heavily modify the vehicle, get the LC200.

If you do not intend on heavy modifications, the LX570 will offer way more value for the money.

The differences balance out. Get the one that really calls to you. (I vote LX)

If we are talking 16+ with the cheaper of the two being the LC, I'd definitely be in the landcruiser camp. Doesn't have the lower-hanging and more damage prone bumpers, wheels appropriate for off-roading, and IMO the 16+ landcruiser looks GREAT. My 13, by contrast, looks a little like a cartoon SUV.

Older trucks where LX is significantly cheaper than LC and doesn't have the same styling/bumper penalty, things lean the other way usually.

Make sure you look into operating the LX stereo/nav. Seems to be quite polarizing and lots of people really really dislike it.

I considered both and in addition to my planned modifications I chose the LC because the older they get, the LC seems to retain its value better. I also suspect that if for whatever reason the Land Cruiser nameplate doesn't see a 300 series offered in the US, the 200 series could actually appreciate. I have no idea if that's a reasonable suspicion, but look at the 90's Defender's value after it was discontinued.

As it's been said, there's no 'bad choice' here...that's what is making this so difficult. The LX popped up, I drove out, fully expecting the numbers to be way off. They stepped up on the trade and dropped the selling price, then the wife gave me the line "either one is fine" Then she also says "but I know you and you lift everything, put wheels and tires on it, and need to be able to buy parts to keep you interested" I get the LX is capable, but there's no denying the LC has more robust aftermarket support.

I wish this was easier...but it's a good problem to have lol

HELP!
I have a 200, less frills less to break. The lx570 ride is nice and the sound system is better.

I would not care at all on the 200 warranty. And don’t regret not getting the lx570. I test drive a 570 3 weeks ago just to test the waters. I like the Toyota better, it flys under the radar and those who know know it’s a landcruiser.

We live in Fairfield county Connecticut and the lx570 is way more common than the Toyota.

Good luck!!

The struggle is real! I would go LC all the way depending on color. I just don’t care for the newer LX grills.

Have to admit...I'm at my shop cleaning out the Rubicon and getting a little sad. Thank god my techs are gone, because I'm telling my Jeep how much I'll miss it LOL

On the flip side, I spent a couple hours in it today trying to make business calls with people telling me, "It's so loud, is your window down or something?" I'm like, noooo, just in a lifted Wrangler doing 65mph...as I passed semi-trucks while getting wind-blown into the median...as it downshifted and screamed to gain enough speed...and as I was 2-handed on the wheel trying to not lose control. Funny thing is, now that I'm cleaning it out after looking at the LC & LX, dang this jeep is small!

I'm leaning towards the LC guys. I just know I'm going to kit it out with parts and it's an easier canvass to work with. I have until 6am when we're due to make the 3 hour trip to change my mind though LOL

Either would be a wise choice! Personally the 570 is an acquired taste

my friend here likes it!

-I can chalk up another LC sale

Those miles are so low on both it doesn’t really matter. I love my 570 but I vote LC since you want to mod it. I chose the 570 because of what was available at the time and pricing at the time. You are in a win win position as someone previously mentioned, I think the choice should be obvious to you.

I like the name Land Cruiser better than the name LX570, but that’s just me.

You're in a LC forum. Of course most will tell you LC. I will say that LX is the better deal. For $4k more, it has less miles and more features. Then again, most who buy the LX don't really care for the aftermarket support.
