Yeeeeah, no worries guys...there will be mods. I own a custom motorcycle shop and nothing I own is stock. First mod is going to be a quick couple hours with plasti-dip to kill the chrome. Next I need to decide on the lift. Already know wheels and tires, same as on my Rubicon, Method Roost in bronze wrapped with 305/65/18 KO2's...white letters out of course.

This is now in my driveway! After a 3 hour trip home,my wife actually warmed up to it. Pretty sure it was the hours of windy highway in a lifted Jeep on 37s...then the quiet and comfortable ride home in the LC.

I am in the market for a 200 and go back and forth on the LC vs LX thing.

Like everything it really depends on what you want.

For me, While I am find the LC a little more appealing due to having more aftermarket support, and having lower production numbers, I am just not sure that it makes sense for me. I am not sure that I want to mess around with a traditional static lift, that tend to be optimized optimized for off road when 98 percent of its use will be on road. Add in the Badge premium associated the Land Cruiser badge and one could be looking at dropping an extra 10k on a LC.

So the question is, what do you want? There is no wrong choice, just want makes sense for your situation

Crazy thing is, around here it's the LX that's holding a premium price. I'm already in semi-buyers-remorse-mode over if I should've got the LX. I went the advice from my wife, brother, and employees, and they all said to go for the LC. Damn the LX was so sweet though!!!

At the end of the day I'm happy, and the bonus is the LC was 4-5k lighter on the wallet. Still adjusting to how nice it drives coming from a modified Jeep!

You own and work at a custom motorcycle shop. By buying the 200, you escaped the daily ribbing of owning a Lexus from your employees. Many years ago, my country folk relatives gave me hell about my GS430 when I drove it for a visit. Saying I should sell drugs out of it, that a trophy wife should be driving it, the "L" stands for ladies not Lexus, and so on. They don't tell me anything when I drive the 100 or 200, and they like them. If I had an LX I would be getting the jokes all the time. This should save you from buyers remorse.

You might want to search a bit further on the 200 section before making a final wheel decision. As far as 200 guys go Method is not at all one of the top choices. I can't off hand say I've ever even seen methods on a 200. 200's are much more sensitive to offset on wheels compared to a jeep, it's quite a bit of headaches and rubbing issues if you just throw something on it you like the looks of. 17"'s also are usually the preferred choice, whith TRD Rock warriors being the by far most popular opinion. Icon 6-speed and DakarZero EVO Corse would usually be the 2-3 option for the 200's. 5x150 1`7"s is a small selection, and the Rock warriors are the only choice with the ideal offset. I've known several 1st time 200 guys that just immediately put some 18-20" wheel that they liked the look of, only to end up putting 17" rock warriors a year later after learning why exactly all the 200 guys have them. Just some thoughts, I'm just saying to do a bit of 200 specific forum research regarding wheels before pulling the trigger. 1 good place to look that has real user data of almost every configuration is here:

Anyways, congrat's on the 200, looks awesome!

I 100% appreciate the advice! I'm a research guy and have read a ton, both in this forum and out in the old interwebs. I'd never pull the trigger on something without thoroughly researching and knowing what I'm getting into. None of the 3 wheels you mentioned appeal to me, and I've run Method wheels on a few vehicles. Actually one of the reasons I'm going with 18's are for the offset in the 5x150 bolt pattern in the wheel I'm getting.

Love this forum so far, tons of good info and great people to help you along. Glad to have an active spot, especially coming from Wranglers and 4runners...

You're in a LC forum. Of course most will tell you LC. I will say that LX is the better deal. For $4k more, it has less miles and more features. Then again, most who buy the LX don't really care for the aftermarket support.
Not really a better deal considering it will be worth less than the LC in only a couple of years.

No problem. curious what is the offset on the Method's? I'm not familiar with them

The 17" are mostly 0 offset and the 18" are 18 in 5x150

Here's a set of Methods on my old 4runner

Sharp T4R. Im not normally a fan of aftermarket rims on toyotas, but those look good.

My LC on 18” Methods MR310 Con6 +18 offset riding in 35x12.5/18 KO2 which is really a 34.5” tire. Better tire size for me would have been 295/70/18.

I have to revert my comment that I’ve never seen Method’s on a 200, now I have. Sharp looking truck! So since your wheels have the same 18 offset as the ones @LL247 is looking at, how do you feel 305/65/18 would fit? Curious based off your experience, and that you said you that a better size for you would have been 295/70/18.

Everyone stop it.....LX with the low miles and 1st choice of color.....
Fantastic choice. Personally when I bought my LC, I went and drove both it and the LX back to back at the same dealership. For me, the LC was the only choice to make. The Lexus just didn't feel right. Enjoy the modding and good luck with the wife. Mine stole the cruiser from me and now drives it daily.... :-(
