OK- so I'm about to the point of designing a roll cage for the 45 (removable top) I'd like to devise a way to have the roll cage come out the back of the cab and go down to the rear frame rails to tie everything together. Problem is I can't think of a way to do this that doesn't permanently "trap" the rear part of the cab, rendering it a non-removable top version (which I already have one of anyway, I don't need another).

I've been toying with ideas about bars that come out when you pull a pin, round gaskets to seal around the cage when the top is on, hinges that allow bars to swing out of the way when not tied together- but pretty much I can't engineer an answer to this problem...

There is a picture attached to help to explain it better, if anyone has any possible solutions I'd be grateful, but at this point I'm just stuck. Help me please. Luke

You could do seperate 'cages. One for behind the cab, one for within.

Or, set up a disconnect system like Jack Rice has on his '45's cage. Run the bars through where the back window goes, have the window replaced with lexan, and have an upholstry shop make up some sort of zippered gasket to seal it.

You could make the rear kicker to the frame be removable. Make large plates to sandwhich the removable top between plates at the interior cage and rear kicker, same at the bed end of the kicker.

Yep, and a plate on the interior of the cab. Then isolate it with rubber on both sides of the cab. I would do the back plate in the bed that bolts to another plate that goes to the frame.

That being said I personally would look at making an internal cage, and a bed roll bar. If the hoops are made identical, then it would almost look like a double bar with the top removed.

Another option if you are awesome at body work would be to cut the top at the back corner and make it removable in two pieces to allow for a single cage with rear kickers. This would be really hard to pull off and look right tho.

Well- I'm clearly not good at body work- so that's not going to happen.

Look at CJ8 (Scramblers) and half cab Bronco's.. a buddy of mine has a scrambler with the half cab.. he has 2 seperate cages with a slot that his hard top slides thru.. It looks Sweet and is functional.. pluss the rear cage suports his spare tire.. His was Professionaly built..

What size tires are those in your avatar picture? They look like Swamper SXs. Thanks, Luke

There were clamps in those pictures?

Where? :)

Damn, I clicked on the pirate forum as my wife walks into my office and exclaims, "is this what you do with your spare time pervert".

That is why I love my wife so much. She looks over and says "Those are cute". Man I lover her.
