Definitely set your volume high before you begin! I wound up not setting mine high enough, I wish I had maxed it out. I can’t recall what I used, but 40 seems like it rings a bell? Anyway, the sound is great, but sometimes I enjoy cranking a good tune and it’s not quite loud enough. I got the joying head unit which fits great and works well. I also replaced my factory speakers with ds18 8 ohms. I can’t say speakers seemed to make much difference…
Best advice is take your time, patience is necessary with all the trim and wires and inevitable issues that will arise.
Thank you!

I just installed the new Joying software version 12 and I had to do the complete opposite - I have to turn the Factory HU down to Zero, and then bump it up 1 or 2 taps from the steering wheel button.

When I connect the Joying after that, it sounds normal and doesn't distort at 36 (or whatever the max is).

Hello everyone just bought 04 gx470, radio doesn’t work, would like to go non nav, my build date is 10/03 so i guess i need a 88650-60771 ac climate control unit, looking for one most are crazy expensive also brakes are needed anyone in southern Cali willing to let a unit go

Sorry i need the 88650-60770 typo does anyone have available

Running into an issue on my conversion.

04 GX
I purchased 88650-60770 according to the walkthrough. Originally did this in May and everything seemed to work. But now that it’s summer I noticed driver side blend door is not working. Driver warm, passenger cold. Blend door moves up to heat but not down to cold. Changed to new Lexus part, nothing. Thought low on Freon, but recharge didn’t change. Not an evap leak. Something to do with electrical not reversing polarity and moving blend door down for AC on driver side.

Seeing if anyone else had this issue?

Going to connect old nav and make sure everything worked before and check my wire extensions. Thinking it could be that I need the AC module with the B letter in it? Or could be my AC module isn’t giving the blend door signal to close?

For no I have disconnected the blend motor and kept the blend door in the AC down position

Noticed the AC modules have a “dual” function. My nav didn’t. Don’t know if that’s an issue

Those blend door actuators are notorious for going bad, but they typically make noise for a while before they stop functioning altogether. I have replaced the driver and passenger side actuators on my 04 within the last couple of years.

They’re expensive too. Lexus wanted $200 for one so I went to Longo Toyota next door and they ordered me the same part but $50 cheaper since the 4Runners use it.

Was hoping that was the issue but even a new one didn’t change the issue

update on driver blend door issue after conversion.

Re-installed old nav and blend door for AC is working. So not the motor. Before motor would only move to hot position.

Problem could be my wiring is loose or perhaps my AC module from the non-nav car is mis-functioning. The latter would be a bummer and I’ll have to look for another.

Joying reinstalled. Blend door moves to hot position only. Not my wiring. Possibly faulty AC module

I just finished up my non-nav conversion and having this same issue. Checking the wires and connections this weekend. Hoping it's an easy fix on the wiring/connectors.

Finally did the thing!, still sorting out the heat on the drivers side only. Have a friend who figured out the part numbers for the the factory plugs and connectors and made a circuit board for easier soldering (might look at 3d printing an enclosure and trimming the circuit board for a cleaner install). Still R&D'ing it, but I preferred this route instead of cutting the factory harness. I know it looks a little messy, I loomed the wires as I fed them through the dash. Shoutout to The Sound Factory in Knoxville for the clean install of the stereo and running the wires for the new backup camera, and even ran the mic up by the rear view mirror.

Parts list:
Metra 70-8114 Steering Wheel Control Harness
Metra 88-00-9000 Dash Kit (black, has pockets)
Metra 95-8166G Dash Kit (gray, pretty much perfectly matches the gray on the HVAC controls)
Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter
Axxess TYTO-01 Wiring Interface
RS-LP1 backup camera, mounted to license plate bracket
non-nav HVAC harness extension - might offer as a plug'n'play kit if my friend and I can get mine sorted out, let me know if there's any interest in that
Sony XAV-AX8100

My friend who built the harness extension and I did a lot of troubleshooting last night in addition to getting the buttons illuminated with a disconnect plug.

Took it all apart and plugged in the old nav system and air worked fine on both sides, ice cold. So think that may rule out the blend door actuator.

Inspected the circuit board and connectors on the harness extension, plugged back into the non nav controls and back to hot air on driver side. Unplugged the stereo and everything from the center stack and plugged the non nav controls to the factory harness in the passenger footwell and same result, hot air on driver.

That leads me to believe that it might be the non nav controls themselves. Didn't realize my GX was a carryover month (11/04 build), so I guess only thing left to try is to source a older part number non-nav controls and see if it works. Unless anyone else knows of something to try.

It's almost like the current non nav controls are not getting enough or the right signal to shift the blend door down to cold air because when we switched from the old nav controls that blew cold air back to the non nav controls, it wasn't as hot on the driver side.

Hey man. Good to know I’m not the only one with the driver side not cold.

Coincidentally I am switching over the AC modules right now. I have both -60770 and -60B50 recommended for the 04 on the guide. Both picked up on eBay and I am still having the same issue. I have an extra actuator and no change.

Sent ya a PM

I was able to source another 60771 unit and just confirmed it works, blows cold air on the driver side. That's about all I know to do, maybe the unit I have would work for someone who doesn't have a 11/04 build date? I'll swap them out this weekend.
